Default Need some help in the career Dept.

I was wondering if anyone has any pointers on good ways to figure out what you want to do as a career.Right now I am in a position where I will be able to have most of the costs covered with going back to school to receive an associates......but I just don't know what it is that I really want to do.

I would be greatful for any advice

Many institutions of higher learning offer courses wherein you take a series of aptitude tests and other sorts of tests to ascertain where your interests and your skills lie. This may help you to narrow down your choices. From there you can do your research as to educational requirements and rates of pay, etcetera. Good luck in your career search!

I think the essays on the subject on paulgraham.com are a good read for starters.

Default Do you really want one?

Maybe a better question would be, why do I feel compelled to lumber myself with a job wherein many other people have opinions on how I am not up to the job?

I had a career once. Thankfully it only lasted 5 years before I saw the light. Ask not what a corporation can do for you, ask what the hell you're doing in one in the first place.

Look for a vocation rather than a career. I'm not a strong believer in aptitude tests. After all they only measure what you have focused your efforts on up till now. It says nothing about your future which changes with every decision you make.
