I'm thinking of programming some kind of software for personal development. Addictive, easy to use, simple and to the point. A program that helps achieving goals and keeping motivation. Any ideas? Would anyone be willing to use a personal development software? What features would you like it to have? |

Sounds like an interesting idea. I don't use any personal development software (yet) so I wouldn't know what things are standard though, but something I'd like to see is the ability to keep a file of information or log about each area of one's life in Personal Development. And you can rate how good it is on a scale of 1/100 so by looking at the top level list you instantly get a snapshot of how well you're doing. You can also see which areas you need to work on very quickly. For example, if I may quote podcast 2: Quote:

Hello and welcome aboard Pnigro... I don't know if this could help you but, what I use, is a Palm... where I keep the following... 1. Thing to do today... 2. Goals and objectives... I keep a separate entry for each and the strategy to achieve those goals are included with the goals and objectives... 3. Passages and quotes that need to be reviewed periodically 4. Names, phone numbers and contacts... 5. Pictures of my heroes and mentors... (for association and emulation purposes.) I suppose you could start with that... and build up from that base... The very best of luck to you... . |

Hi, Pnigro, This is a very good idea. I've been thinking about it for ages, but I don't have skills to implement it myself, and I'm not yet ready to assemble a team. So, I'll add my 2 cents to this thread and maybe something will come out of it. If at all possible, try to make it as a game. I know that games are supposed to be "not serious", but they are the best educational tools there are. As for the content, the following things may be useful. - A PD reminder. You pick up the skill or the area of growth and the times you want to practice. Then, at that time, you receive a reminder and an exercise. At the end of the exercise you have to fill in a journal entry or something. - And exercise in life balance. I think there is a software like this already, but you can always make it more fun or turn into a game with practice tasks. The idea is to set the desired balance between the areas of your life. Then to track the tasks you are doing and show what is the actual work life balance. And send you notifications when you approach the boundary for an are life. - A budgeting software that tracks not only your money, but your time also, and other resources like health, relationships, internal energy etc. Any PD software should not only be for PC or Mac it should preferably work on portable platforms that people can have with them all the time - phones, PDAs, ipods etc. |
