Default Stuck? Moving What's in Your Way Outta Your Way

I'm a believer in having a large toolbox for life situations. In other words having practices, tips, resources for challenges that come along. My toolbox is quite diversified because of my occupation and personal path.

So, I thought creating a post that shares success tips for getting over, under, and through barriers that keep you stuck might be of value and fun to create.

Here's one of mine:

When my mental chatter (self-talk) is negative and I start to spiral downwards, I am able to catch it very quickly by using a wonderful process I learned from a book called Resurfacing at Welcome to AvatarEPC.com I've taken courses with this organization and I love their material.

Ok - so when your mind starts racing, take a breath and begin to look around your environment. Put your full attention on something in your surroundings. Without thinking about what it is or calling that object anything, you count the number 1. (For example, I'm looking at the clock on the wall and all I'm thinking as I notice it, is the number 1). Continue to look at the next object and say 2, You continue this practice for several minutes. 3, 4, 5, 6.....

Watch what happens to your internal chatter!

So, what works for you?

This tip makes sense for me. Thank you for sharing.

Here is one tool I discovered myself.

There were some bad days where I spent too much time thinking whether I should do something today or tomorrow.

My mind had good arguments for both options and "Do it now" just didn't work. So I was in a deadlock and unable to make a decision.

My solution was to throw a coin

If it would be a "Yes" then I would do the task no matter how hard and unpleasant it was.

If it would be a "No" then I would skip the task for this day and wouldn't need any excuses for not completing it.

By the low of probabilty this solution guaranteed me an average completion of 50% of my tasks
Sometimes this is much better that 0% and remorse.

I can appreciate that old standby of tossing a coin when the choice is confusing or both options are equally compelling.

Here's another tip from my toolbox.

De-clutter regularly. Clutter is defined as anything unfinished, incomplete, in need of repair or replacement, as well as things we tolerate, put up with, or avoid, including people and even ourselves! Attracting good things to you becomes even more difficult when your life is cluttered with stuff that divides your energy and focus.

Take 20 minutes a day to declutter. Imagine how much stuff you clean up and clear out at the end of 30 days! You'll be freeing up energy, time, and focus to get on with having what you want.
