Default Less is More 30 Days of Working Smarter

So after about a week of damn near killing myself everyday with the Warrior Method I've decided to drop the anchor on that challenge and focus on goals that are more attainable and congruent with the type of lifestyle I want to ultimately live.

The focus on the Less is More Challenge is to take a look at areas of my life and see how I can streamline/automate them for maximum efficiency. In the Warrior Method I was beginning to get burned out and actually becoming less effective.

Task: Workout Regimen

Plan: So the first thing that gets an overhaul is the workout plan. Instead of Running 6 days a week and playing basketball everyday for hours I'm going to cut the running in half to 3 days a week. The key here is to pick up the intensity and distance for maximum results. Resistence training is next on the agenda. Rather then workout out 6 days a week I'm going to cut it down to 2 days a week with approx 30-45 minutes per session concentrating on 5-7 compound movements for increased T-Level output.

Task: Automation

Plan: Put my life on Autopilot. After I redesign my website I am going to hire a Virtual assistant to run the day to day operations of it. I'm also going to automate all my bills and other month expenitures so that it is one less thing I have to worry about. Said Virtual Assistant will also be put in charge of finding me a good paying job overseas as well as various other mundane tasks.

Task: Save Enough for a Vacation

Plan: Before my goal was to raise 5000. Very lofty indeed. But realistically I was setting myself up for failure. Now my goal is simply to generate enough money to afford a trip to some country outside the United States after my 30 days is up.

Task: Purge

Plan: I started the process of purging my stuff a few months ago. It was a success, but now it is time for another purge session. I need to shed more useless junk that is weighing me down. I started the process by selling my behemoth 17 inch laptop and switching to a smaller 14.1 inch model.

Task -Books

Plan - This is still an important part of my plan. I'm devouring the "4 Hour Work Week" right now and will read 8-10 more books throughout this challenge.

So What is the END Goal you ask?

1. To be in the best shape of my life. I feel that if do my plan the way it is set up and eat a very nutritious diet I can accomplish this goal. I also want to be able to MAX my Army Physical Training Test (Still in Reserves) Which will give me some what of an accurate measure of where I am.

2. Streamline/Automate/Outsource - By the end of this challenge someone in India wil be running my website as well as advertising it fore me. My finances wil be worry free. And last but not least I'll have a life maximization system in place that takes a relatively short amount of time, yet gives maximum results.

3. Vacation - It's been a while since I've taken out time for myself. Instead of shooting for some arbitrary sum I've money. The end goal here is to be able to take a nice vacation to a cool part of the world I haven't been to. (open for suggestions)

If I can accomplish those three things in 30 days the Less is More challenge will be a success.

Thumbs up

Well I'm sorry to hear that the Warrior Method didn't work out for you. Before you make another 30 commitment I would take some time to reflect. Do not make it a habit to promise yourself the world and then give up 2 days later. That is a bad groove to get into man.

So do yourself a favor and make no promises for a few days. Figure out exactly what you really want and how to get it. Charging into one brick wall after another isn't a learning experience.

You failed, now step back and learn from it.

I don't know your body. Maybe you have a lot of fat to lose. Maybe you want to build a lot of muscle? From your last thread, I think you want to do both. What makes you think you can do both with that workout plan? What about your diet? Do some research!

You have vastly improved your workout plan from last thread. However, I still think that 3 days a week of running is too much cardio work. If you are trying to cut fat, cardio is good. But if you are trying to build muscle...well, it's counter-productive. To build muscle you need a lot of extra calories; your body has to be in a caloric surplus. All that running is burning calories that could be used to help build the muscles you are training in your resistance work. Not to mention that your diet needs to be carefully planned too. Are you trying to lose fat? Your diet will be very different if you are trying to gain muscle.

The goals of gaining a lot of muscle and losing a bunch of fat at the same time are goals that are at odds. Focus on one or the other first - depending on what state your body is in right now.

Good luck!

Thanks scumbag. If nothing else, the name of your method, "The Warrior Method" is pretty inspiring, at least for me (it conveys power, power of will despite any adversity), and the next time i set myself to achieve something big in a limited time i will probably name it "The Warrior Method" also, but with different goals

Bookwise I'd recommend the 80/20 principle.
Another hint is to reverse engineer your goals, meaning that you start with a definite idea of what you want and then create the easiest/fastest plan to get there, break it down into subgoals, and adapt the plan as you learn.
The 30 day-challenge approach is a good way to keep your motivation up. The problem is that you start with a time restriction instead of what you want to accomplish and then cram stuff in there. If you do, make sure you put in the big blocks first.

Congratulations on your flexibility and tenacity, and best wishes in your further quest for excellence!

Would you like for people to stick to cheering you on, or would you appreciate feedback along the way?

I apologize for being remiss by not asking you that before.

So this is pretty nice. I've been reading a ton of books lately that have really helped guide me in my goals. The 80/20 principle is something I'm going to experiment with.

The first thing I'm going to do is completely overhaul and simplify my website. I'm going to push the 20 percent of products that consistently generate most of my sales.

The other thing is the workout. I'm focusing right now on the 7 best/useful exercises using maximum output and load for each. forcing muscles to grow, rather then patiently waiting for split routines and isolation exercises to work.

Some other things I'm working on right now is the streamlining of my life.

I'll keep you guys updated. just completed summer school so i'll have more time to focus on what is really important.
