Default Your 30-days trial

In my opinion Steve's best post is 30 Days to success, with this method I've stopped to drink coffee at work.
Have you used it?

Yes, I use this powerful concept for various things - not just to try out new stuff but to continue to them. So after one successful cycle I might let a few days pass and start all over again, maybe a little tougher or a little longer the next time.

Below are some things I have completed at least once up until now:

Nutrition & Health:
- no snacks at work (I used to get chocolate bars and other junk from the shop around the corner)
- no food after 2 pm (much more energy in the afternoons and in the evening)
- restrict calories to 1600 for 30 days (goodbye love handles, welcome sixpack)
- do tiger moves every day
- do pushups one odd and pullups on even days
- meditate every day

Working & personal effectiveness:
- one hour of personal project work before leaving for day job in the morning
- no tv
- listen to audio books when going somewhere instead listening to music
- timeboxed 5 hours of quality work in the office (next to meetings and other obligiations) but NO overtime (that's the trick)
- no surfing after 8 pm (better things to do in the evenings)
- no daily newspaper but read and finish a weekly magazine instead (you still end up knowing everything but in a more compressed kind of way)
- get up at once when the alarm goes off in the morning (this was tough at first but I have no problems with this one anymore, no matter at what time)
- get up at 5 am every day

Money:
- no spending except paying the necessary bills (food etc.) You would be surprised how many things you don't want after some days have passed but you would have bought them instantly

Freetime, recreational:
- read for one hour a day in a quality book you should have read a long time ago
- play chess for one hour a day
- no computer games whatsoever (I completely stopped gaming in the meantime, except chess)

I don't remember the rest right now but I think there are some more....

Regards
Volkmar

Well, my first real go at this has been becoming a vegetarian (fixing a lot of diet) and no caffeine.

On day 14 I grabbed the door for a schoolmate who was locked out and he gave me a piece of pizza with sausage on it. I ate it. It was delicious. The next day: explosions

Haven't thought about it since. I do miss chicken and meat on sandwiches. I cut all dairy except cheese occasionally, all meat except fish (protein). No carbonated drinks at all. No treats.

I lost 2 belt sizes in the first 2 weeks (and I'm thin as it is, 175 at 6'0'' with wide shoulders). I feel fantastic.

30-day trials I've tried or am trying:

#1- Frequent exercising (ie: very short 5-10 minute sessions) multiple times a day. Result: Success! I've stuck with this and I'm loving it. Great gains, and it's way more fun and motivating.

#2- Waking up at 6:00 am to study. Results: stopped this one after 2 months. I actually enjoyed the process. It was fun and effective. However it took it's toll on late night partying and wasn't a viable college option.

#3-Paleo diet-Trying this right now. Have done 10 days and I'm loving it. I think I'm going to keep this one for life. So much easier than I thought it'd be.

i agree this the 30 day trial has been a great success except if you try to cram to many things in 30 days they tend not to get done.

i had a list of 10 things in the begginning but i only got 3 done and have kept doing them.....

1. wake up at 6 o clock, bed at 10.pm.
2. 5- 10 hrs of study a day
3. commit to A.W.H.I.P.

Absolutely! I've used the 30-day trial to go from a strict Non-vegetarian to a 100% Vegan in June 2006. I'm still Vegan today!

I have used this method for the following:

1. Quit drinking coffee (After one month I returned to drinking coffee, as I did not notice any big improvements. But, I drink less coffee now, and more tea. )
2. Waking up at 6am (I am still on it, its great!)
3. Exercising every morning (this was a tough one, I still exercise in the morning, but not every day)
4. Meditating every day (I just started today)

This is a great method to develop/discontinue any habbit you want!

Yes. I quit smoking, quit visiting certain forums, quit watching TV...

I don't actually pay attention to or time most of the things I do though. It's just more of a process of letting it go or bringing it in.
