Hey! Read around a bit and decided to make my first post One area about goal setting which is really confusing me right now is to choose the number of goals to follow at once. A lot of motivational gurus talk about setting one goal at a time, get complete clarity on that one goal and visualize it. Visulizing more than one goal creates confusion, according to them. All the above makes a lot of sense. But at the same time I don't really understand how can one follow only one goal at a time. Wouldn't that lead to a really unbalanced life? If I look at my life I think I will always have some sort of financial goal. Now if I take the approach of only one goal at a time I'd only be pursuing my financial goals my entire life. And other areas of my life will detoriorate as result. Can someone explain this to me. Am I understanding this correctly? I'd really appreciate any help. |

Hello and welcome aboard chicmagnet... (cute name I agree with you... we should have simultaneous goals for all facets of our lives... such as: personal growth, financial goals, health and exercise, spiritual goals, social goals (interesting people you want to meet) contribution goals (stuff that you want to contribute to others) etc... And, as a starter for contribution goals.... how about telling us how we can get to be chick magnets too... . |

Thanks for the reply shamou.. So, you don't see anything wrong with pursuing more than one goal at a time? what about visulization..won't I not be able to develop a clear picture when I try to visualize a lot of goals at the same time..If you don't mind, can you tell me how you set up your goals( if you keep more than one goal at a time), how you visulize them etc.. I listen to Bob proctor a lot. And like a lot of his audios He say not to keep more than 1-2 goals. And how more goals create confusion. This statement seems right and wrong to me at the same time.. Don't think I can help anyone becoming a chicmagnet, just comes naturally to me |

I think it depends on the size of the goal. Perhaps it's wise to limit yourself to 1-2 major goals so that you can focus primarily on those. But I don't see any reason not to be working on 3-5 smaller goals, too.

| I personally do not do much visualization... I use what Tony Robbins calls, "The Ultimate Success Formula" which goes like this... 1) Decide what you want, 2) Take action, 3) Notice what’s working or not, and 4) Change your approach until you achieve what you want. In order to do that, I use a "Personal Planner" which is nothing but a loose binder... in it, I write each individual goal and the strategy that I will use to achieve it... I review that every day... and if the strategy is not working well... I simply take that page off and re-write a different strategy that should work better... It works for me... but, remember visualizing will do absolutely nothing for you unless you put in the effort... and that effort has to be directly proportional to the size of the goal... I works for me... Good luck... . |

I believe what they are talking about is to focus only on major goals. For example, if you want financial success, then focus on having the salary that would make you content. Don't focus on small goals like making 1k this week or making new ways to make money because all of these smaller goals are all a part of a much bigger goal -- financial success. So don't cloud your focus on your bigger goal with smaller goals. Visualize you having achieved that ultimate goal, and the rest will follow suit.

I have three sets of goals going all the time: Life goals, yearly goals and weekly goals. They're all related. Weekly goals flow from yearly goals and yearly goals flow out of my lifetime goals. I compile my list of yearly goals at the beginning of each year, at which time I also revisit my lifetime goals. Weekly goals are sort of to-do lists that keep me on track 52 weeks a year! These don't have to be business-related goals only. I incorporate leisure and fun into my goals as well. For example, one of my lifetime goals was to visit Europe. In 2005 one of my goals for the year was to travel to Italy. Beginning in January, I incorporated into my weekly goals a stepped-up process of marketing and bidding on contracts to increase my income to fund a travel account. In September of that year, off to Italy we flew! For 2007, my travel goal is to spend Christmas in England |

Most of us have many goals, some bigger than others. A main big goal would probably warrant more attention than a smaller, easier achievable goal. Here's a bit more about visualization and how to do it. Try affirmations too. I think they go hand in hand.
