It would appear as if working memory is one the best and most possible way to improve IQ and brain function, as mentioned in the wikipedia article: Working memory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. However, it does not specify how to improve working memory, or what training methods were used. How do you improve working memory? |

The wikipedia article mentions "Klingberg, T., Forssberg, H., & Westerberg, H. (2002). Training of working memory in children with ADHD. Journal of Clinical & Experimental Neuropsychology, 24, 781-791." as the source for information about the training. That means that the training is possible for people with ADHD who don't function at full capacity anyway. A lot of altanative training methods (Brainwave therapy and imagestreaming) are able to increase substancially the IQ of ADHD patients. That doesn't necessarly mean that they have the same effect of fully functioning minds. The training could simply reduce their ADHD and produce an IQ increase by removing effects of ADHD. Is here someone in the forum who has access to this journal and can tell us what kind of training the have used? |

There's a thread here called School of Phenomenal Memory. Despite what one person has to say about it, it does seem promising. Also I use SuperMemo to help quiz me on things I want to remember. |

Hi, this is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. I remember reading a New Scientist article about this. Apparently a dual 2-back exercise was shown to improve working memory after a couple of weeks of 30 minutes a day. The exercise is free to do on this website. Dual n-task - dual-n-task.com Hope that helps! |

Simply learn to count with multiple rows. Grab a deck of cards, and start counting how many fours, kings, etc pass by. This is direct working memory training. But you have to remember, training working memory is very beneficial, but difficult, so have some self-discipline.
