Mounds last post - can't open it

I want to read Mounds last post, but I keep getting a weird error message about 'too many redirects'. Have tried 2 browsers and both signed in and logged out.

Any chance anyone could copy and paste it for me into this thread? Or is anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks!

CroMagna 12-22-2011 11:41 PM

Yes, I'm having the same problem.

I had the same problem but used my mod powers (it still wasn't easy to find a way, but fortunately that gives me a few additional ways)

I've been purposely quiet about this whole thing, as I waited for the intensity to die down. Now that the emotions (and certain voices) have been quelled, I'll elaborate on my standing.

I once had a lot of love and respect for this forum. Had a lot of good times, met some good people. I'm grateful for those experiences.

What I would have liked to see is this forum die with some dignity. The 'scorch the Earth!' approach that took place here is the last thing I ever expected to happen and flies in the face of all that I've learned here. If it would have been a simple, "Well, I'm out. The forums will be done in five days", there would have been a virtual celebration.

Instead, the scenario is more like this:

Imagine we learn that the sun is going to vanish in five days. Most of our friends have already perished due to the harsh conditions and the survivors are desperately clinging on to what they once knew. Some are accepting of their fate, others are angry, some are pleading for the world not to end, and others are just plain bitter at how it all went down.

We wander around the places we once knew, remembering the experiences we had. Some of us are decide to go all out, doing as much as we can before the sun disappears for good. Others try to determine what the hell happened, that lead to these events. And still others choose to wander the places they once knew, searching for nostalgia, only to find that these places are nothing without their community.

I, for one, will not be waiting around for the sun to set for the last time. I can't stand to see the place I once cherished in this sad, pathetic state. So with that, I'm leaving for good.

If anyone wants to find me, I'm a member of PD For You.

I realize this wasn't a positive post and frankly, I don't think there's much positive about this situation. This could have been a really awesome ending, along with a good feelings when you see it in it's read only state. Instead of being like a wooly mammoth preserved perfectly in a glacier, it's going to be like coming across the mammoth's rotting carcass, conspicuously untouched by scavengers.

Abra-cadaver.

Thanks Brutha.

Yeah, Tim, i had forgotten about this phase of a classic Collapse:

"The Stomping Conquerer".

Anyways, love to you, Tim. I posted my regards, appropriately, in Fun And rec.

It's been well over a year since I engaged you, ALG. It might be time to let it go.

WOW. The browser is redirecting in a way that will never be completed? That's special.

Thank you, Brutha!!

The moderation logs show that Brutha tried to move Mounds' original thread twice. I guess he used redirects each time and somehow created an infinite loop with them, but I'm not even sure how he did that. If he used temporary redirects, then they'll eventually expire, and that thread should come out of limbo at some point.

The thread was in this condition before I touched it.
I was hoping to get it back to normal functioning by moving it.

Hmmm... How did you retrieve Mounds' message? When I tried to view the thread, all I got was the redirect.

Mark the message via listing Mounds' posts. Additionally I marked a second random post.
Afterwards I opened the merge posts dialog.
From there I could copy the post even without completing the merge.

Thanks... I ended up retrieving freddy's just by accessing the database directly.
