Default My personal log (Goals for 2012)

Hi All!

I have decided to make my personal goals log in here because I believe it will help me to stay on course, will keep me accountable and will allow me to share my progress with you, thus receiving a valuable feedback.

I have 3 main goals for 2012. I have used SMART goals system. Here they are.

1. By 1st of January 2013 I have achieved a level 8 of discipline/patience.
2. By 1st of January 2013 I have passed spanish exam for intermediate level.
3. By 1st of January 2013 I go out of the house at least once during my days off work for 2 hours minimum.

If you would like to know why I have these types of goals and my reasoning behind it you could check my other posts which led to the creation of these goals. All the information can be found there.

1. By 1st of January 2013 I have achieved a level 8 of discipline/patience.

Check the post called “Question regarding setting my goals correctly.” In Personal Effectiveness forum. I have used Steve Pavlina`s advice here to subjectify objective goals. Level 8 being «very good» level of discipline with 80% success rate. I have created my own 10 point scale to be able to judge that.

2. By 1st of January 2013 I have passed spanish exam for intermediate level.

As I live in Spain now and I simply need it to be able to adequately function in this society and be able to understand people.

3. By 1st of January 2013 I go out of the house at least once during my days off work for 2 hours minimum.

The post called “ Inprisoned in my house, how to escape.” in Social & Relationships forum which explains why this particular goal appears to be so weak for normal person.

I have kept 2012 goals simple and minimum, hopefully I will be able to accomplish it for the first time ever. The goals were already set 3 weeks ago and I have been following them so far.

I just have one favor to ask you guys, please keep me accountable at all times. I want to succed this time and will be posting here regularly, this is the only way for me. Well, let the journey begin….

Smile First log

So as I have mentioned before I have been already following my goals for about 3 weeks so far because I did not want to wait until the start of the new year because waiting until new year is just another way of delaying. So I would like to give you a summary of how these 3 weeks until now went by.

So the first goal is discipline. What I simply did is I introduced a daily routine that I need to follow. Pretty basic, but it is a great start for me as my life was a mess before, at least now I have some kind of structure. It is pretty funny stuff, but I think it does train my discipline. For example, now I forbid myself to use a laptop when I am having a meal At first I had a huge resistance, because I got so used to it that I could not imagine myself just plain eating, I needed to be entertained at all times. But now I am actually enjoying my meals, the food has actually got taste Other things include: making a bed, doing a floss, cleaning the house. As I said this routine is primitive but this step is already huge for me.

Second goal / spanish. Went to library, got myself all necessary books to prepare myself for exam. Have already started my learning process, all good here.

And the last is the social goal. I have been getting out of the house for the past 3 weeks thanks to my girlfriend twice (as she took me to her friends house party) and thanks to my job as we had a big Xmas party. The second time when I went to the house party was really nerve-racking for me, I almost ran back home midway when we were walking to that party as I felt great sense of discomfort, in the end I pushed myself and made it. When the party was over I felt great for accomplishing it.

So far so good. I will keep posting.
