I have one main goal which is to achieve loads of small(ish) goals throughout the year whilst at home and whilst travelling. All the goals I will be setting will be just outside my comfort zone where the action is, allowing for and forcing personal development and enhancing self belief and confidence. This is a way of life, not just a project, but I am documenting everything I do on my Blog with tips, resources, links, reasons, how-tos, what I learned etc to help other people realise the importance and benefits of goal setting and achieving. Anyone who is on board with me will become a better version of themselves, learn and be inspired - that and my own growth are the main goals. If I'm going somewhere good, I'm taking as many people as I possibly can with me! What are your Goals? |

I like the idea of having many smaller goals... they're done faster, keep us balanced & seem to be more motivating. For me... Let's see... Physical: Dance daily, walk more regularly Intellectual: Skim through topics of interest in Encyclopedia, Short stories Creative: Write more, draw (color pencils?), publish book Emotional: Continue learning to get my self-esteem from myself Spiritual: Meditate, Collect pleasant uplifting thoughts Financial: Work more - enjoy more & stress less, save more (less out to eat) Social: Have friends or family over more often Practical: Be on time, or early Last edited by Perspective; 12-16-2011 at 07:23 PM. |

| Hiya Alice, had a nosy around your blog, I'll be back there, there's good content and it's good to read. I am compiling a list as I go along which will include growth in all areas of life. I decided to start a few weeks early and build momentum for a good start to 2012. One of my New years resolutions is never to procrastinate so it made sense to start that in December! And I thought it'd be funny. I finally gave up smoking a week ago and that is completely done with (best decision of my life, finally free!!!) - health and fitness growth I will be firewalking on Monday for charity - this allows mental growth and confidence building I rejoined the gym - I have a few strength and fitness targets I have other goals but I am not going to lay them out yet as I'm doing them all as a feature on my blog with proof etc like I mentioned before. We seem to be doing something similar here. I'll be keeping track of yours for inspiration! |

I'm having a little trouble this year pinpointing what I want to accomplish in 2012 specifically. I think I've been more focused on big life goals recently and the idea of squeezing those into a specific 12 months is messing me up!

I'm not setting any goals (in the traditional sense) for 2012. I've done it every year for as long as I can remember, and the result is that I am disappointed and unhappy every December because I have not achieved what I set out to do. Now, people with one kind of energy might take that as a cue to start kicking ass on the action side of things, but I don't think I've got that kind of energy. What I've decided is this: there are things I would enjoy accomplishing in 2012. However, I am going to detach my happiness from the results of those desires. I refuse to have another "Maaaaan, I didn't get nothin' accomplished again" session in December 2012. Intuitively, this feels like the right path for me. Perhaps after a few more years of PD work, my energy might evolve into ass-kicking mode, but it also might not. This may all blow up in my face. I may find myself one year from now still hovering at my current weight and fitness level, still having not written a novel (which is a goal I'm not particularly aligned with at the moment anyway), and still having not increased my income by any measurable amount. In that case, it will be no different from the last five to ten years in a row. I've survived it that many times already. I'm still here. It's time to stop punishing myself over it. |
