Simple question. Are you a winner or a loser and why… ??? Personally, I’m a winner… for two basic reasons… 1. I see myself as a winner… 2. I’m like a bulldog… when I sink my teeth into something… I don’t ever let go… . |

I'd consider myself a winner. Why? 1. Because I've taken the time to figure out what really matters to me and have followed that path. 2. I enjoy my life and have endurance when things get rocky to hold on and continue down the path I've chosen. 3. I'm loyal and trustworthy and have the joy of great friends, family and loved ones in my life. 4. I'm not to proud to admit to a mistake and apologize or change course depending upon the circumstances. Yeah! This post pushed me into member status!! Last edited by Jenny; 05-16-2007 at 12:55 AM. - 4 months ago, I went through the suicide of the man I was to marry, and came out happier and stronger. - I've lived abroad, where I knew no one. I moved to new cities, crashing on couches and working 3 jobs to make ends meet. And I always managed to succeed professionally, as well as make great friends. - I decided to leave a lucrative, white-collar, fast-track career in order to pursue my high-risk dream of being a writer. - I reconciled with my mother. We used to have a horrible relationship, but I proactively reached out to her. Still a work in progress, but the first step was the hardest. So... I'm a winner because I walk the walk. And, I help others walk the walk. |

Am I a winner? in life we all have tribulations and for the most part we triumph over them. Rarely do we ever have much of a choice. It's either adapt or die. These situations make us all winners but I dont count that. I think winning is a end, a conclusion, an epilogue. And when one considers the grand scheme of things (as far as I'm concerned with myself anyway) I'm not done working yet. I'm not a winner, I'm a fighter. I am not enjoying the fruits of victory, I am sowing its seeds. So, do you really call yourself a winner? Are you fully satisfied? Are you ready to leave your proverbial plow to rust? |

| Only you can determine if you are a winner or not... Being a winner does not mean that you will win them all... but it does mean that when you "go down" you will get back up again and keep on fighting... Being a winner is a state of mind... and not a final coronation... However, if you see yourself as a winner... you will go through life with more confidence... knowing the you may go down... but you wont stay down... and, at the end of it all... you may be a little bloodied... but you will have shown the courage of a champion... and, there lies the ultimate victory... the mark of a true winner... . |

i'm a winner because I can see what others can't see, i'm a winner because I habe habits of a winner, i'm a winner because I think i'm a winner. i'm a winner because I understand perfectly why people act in a certain way, I understand psychology perfectly and i'm 19 years old. I'm a winner because I dedicate my life to the well being of the humanity and I would kill myself to raise the life quality of the humanity, I'm a winner because I can't loose.

I consider myself neither. In trying to maintain balance in my life I've learned to acknowledge both failures and successes and thus I can't be one or the other, I must be both, or neither. I'm an XOR gate with it's output inverted by a NOT gate But if being a winner means pushing that boulder up the hill even if you know it's going to roll back down again. Then no, I'm not a winner. I'd find some way of stopping the boulder so I could sit and gaze out across the scenery while eating a sandwich. I'm a lazy problem-solver. Quote:

Gidday Mark, I had a look at XOR Gate, and NOT Gate, and I dont know if it would be fair to think of anyone that has mastered that stuff as a lazy problem solver. Maybe a unique, ingenius one. Its none of my business really...but please don't call yourself lazy, you deserve better |

Hehe thanks Jenny, though I should warn you, an hour or two might be the limit before insanity takes hold And thanks Uplift, though as with many words in our lovely language, my interpretation of laziness doesn't include the usual sense of apathy, but rather efficiency. And in that spirit I'll let Scott explain further |

I am a winner because ... 1. I never make my success in the expense of others because i have confidence in my skills and knoweldge that i dont have to prove myself in this way... in other words (my work talk instead of me) 2. I do beleive that if someone gets more in life that does not mean that you will get less .. there is enough for everyone out there 3. I like sharing , my most enjoyable moment is when i know i have helped someone that is my greatest satisfaction (beside programming 4. I do have doubts and i do fall down but i always find a way to rise up and walk again 5. I was blessed by great loving caring people. where ever i go i meet them .. thanks God for that. My list can go long so i think i will stop here befor it gets boring |

I don't know if I've really won yet. I think I need full independence to truly emerge and conquer my world, and I will be receiving that when I go to college. My parents are strict and under them I don't think I've ever been able to fully come out of my shell. I feel like a lion, crouched in the tall grass waiting to pounce on it's unsuspecting prey. There are times I feel like a winner and others I feel like a loser. I am extremely fortunate in many ways to be part of a loving family and to have a good job that pays well...the fact that I haven't risen far up the career ladder and that my last two bosses have been younger than me does bother me. It's not jealousy really but an annoyance with myself because I KNOW I can do better. Thing is that while I enjoy my job, especially the creativity of design and writing I am coming to realise it is not my passion. 18 years is a long time to take to find that out but it can't be or else I'd be further on by now. Fundamentally I have never lost hope that I WILL make it in whatever field I choose. I cannot get to the end of my life with regret or else what was the point of being alive. My brother who is 6 years older than me and a bit of an idol actually is living his dream. He's very wealthy, has a beautiful home and travels the world. For reasons I cannot adequately explain I feel I am on the verge of something that will surpass his success. 'Watch out bro', your kid brother is comin' by!' |

Things are OK… why rock the boat…??? seems to be the underlying mind set... There are things that you “should” do… but, few things that you “must” do… So, time goes by… and so does life… Not that there is anything wrong with that… except maybe that you should decide if you are going move ahead or enjoy a relatively good life… Nothing will happen by itself… you are the generator… if anything is going to happen… you are the one who make it happen… and no one else… success will not come and knock at your door… maybe time to piss or get off the pot… . | |

This topic is making me realise that in the ultimate state, there are no winners and losers, just enhancement, fullfillment and happiness. I listen to an interesting CD (Paraliminals Peak Performance) where the speakers highlight the origin of the word competition. Originally it described a group of people enhancing and inspiring each other. I notice a theme of conquering and defeating others in some of the posts. Why not grow, inspire and enhance, then everyone is better off and happy.
