Angry Being 'passionate' about something - irritating statement?

OK, OK, I confess. I have begun to find the phrase "being passionate about something" incredibly annoying and overused - especially the use of the word 'passionate'.

Anyone else?

Doesn't mean I'm not, just means I am trying to find different ways of expressing it!

I think it's just another buzzword. I prefer thinking about it in terms of living the life you want to live. Do you find yourself unable to get to sleep sometimes because what you do is buzzing around your mind? Do you spring out of bed in the morning excited about doing what you do?

Depends on your present perspective i guess. Couch potato? Cant be bothered? No excitement in life? Happy to be where you are at present and no new twists required?

Where are you at?

Maybe you could substitute the word 'enthusiasm' for passion? Depends on what 'passion' means to you. For me it means ...a fire in your belly regarding something in particular. Something that gets you kick-started every time and captures your total attention. Something you've loved for so, so long, even if you've never quite been bring it to being. Something that gets you foot-stomping, table-banging or heart-pumpingly excited. That's what a passion means to me....and yourself?

There is a meaning behind it. I see lots of people approach their life and goals without passion, and it stands out when one is passionate about what they do. Another word might work (enthusiasm, as suggested, would be one). But this is something real that needs a way to identify it.

What I know it is the word Internet Marketer always used in order to entice people to buy their so called 'money making' product.

For me, being passionate about something involves:

1. Something that you almost always WANT to be doing - almot an obsession

2. It just feels right. Because it aligns well with your belief structure at that time, you feel the most comfortable when you do something you are passionate about

3. When you are doing something you are passionate about, nothing else matters - including time. For example, when I play my guitar, an hour can pass just like it was a minute

4. Internally driven versus something that seems cool because someone else you know says so or appears to have fun doing it.

I'm all for passions! And yes, I totally believe that if you are involved with your passions, you will be happy - the more time you can fit into your life doing your passions, the happier you will be.

For example, during the winter, I break away from professional speaking and related activities (not that I don't like those either!) for about half the week to teach snow skiing. Ski instructors don't make a ton of money as I would make as much with a nice speaking engagement as I would the entire season teaching skiing.

But the reality is that for half the week, I get paid to do one of my passions, ie., to ski. Skiing is an expensive activity so I would have gladly teach skiing for free even if all of my skiing related expenses were covered. But to be paid on top of that is a bonus.

Unlike many people, I won't be dreading to go to work on Monday mornings because during the winter for half the week, the ski slopes are my office!

So yes, I believe in passions
