Default weird habit. please help!

ok whenever I am thinking of something and I'M talking to myself inside my head or brainstorming I seem to focus on one word then spell that word out then whilst I'm doing that I write the word with my head like physically move my head how the letter would be written I don't know if this is anything to worry about but what do you think? should I try and stop it as soon as possible I know its kinda trivial but I find it a bit freaky haha thanks

I'm in the same speedboat as you but I'm not too worried about it. The only difference is that I spell it out in the air or on my leg with my finger. Sometimes I'll be watching a movie or a show and a word will get my attention and I'll start spelling it out that way. I always thought it was because I LOVE to spell and regretted not participating in my elementary school's spelling bee........... grrrr......

I think that if you are already an anxious/nervous person, focusing on this will make it even worse. It's not harming anyone necessarily, so why stop it?

ok, I lied. I just did a bit of research and it many articles say it's a sign of OCD and if you give into them, it could strengthen them. :/

I'm going to talk to my shrink about this........ I suggest you do some research too

Why would this need to be fixed?

Thanks I was thinking it could be something to do with OCD but I wasn't sure. tell me what your shrink says if it help's anything can it develop into worse things should I try and stop it?

I will let you know. From what I've been reading, some people who have to do it in cycles or it is affecting their lives, such as not allowing to move onto another task unless they finish then it is OCD. I guess its all about deciphering what healthy and unhealthy habits are.
