Arrow I'm Tired! Shouldn't You . . .?

I'm so tired of the games and lack
of commitment . . .

Read this quote that I came across
the other day

"When the lion is chasing
the antelope, he doesn't look back.
He has to eat."

Robert Cheruiyot (1978 - )
Kenyan marathon runner,
three-time Boston Marathon winner

This is the same with your dream, your
passion and your desires!

People tell me they want to achieve their
dreams of playing music, helping the youth,
being a wedding planner, doing voiceovers . . .

I can on!

Stop looking back! Just Stop looking back
and make the commitment to GO FOR IT!
I made the decision to write a novel and
committed to at least 2 hours each night to
write

In 5 months I completed a 200 plus
page suspense novel that birth the entire vision
of Won't Be Denied.

You know what?

I didn't look back on the fact that I'd never written
more than short assignments in college. I desired
it and like the LION I chased it.

Aren't you tired of looking back?

Thinking of the negative, isn't it tiring?

Living the live your desire, can't you Believe It's
Possible?

I'm tired of all the non-action takers!

Run towards your dream,

C.F. Jackson

Beautiful sentiments C.F. Jackson… However your approach might be improved upon a bit…

People don’t much like preaching… or being talked at… they would much rather be inspired or be shown an example to follow…

You won’t like reading these lines… I know… but, only someone who cares will tell you the truth as he sees it… and, I also feel that you are big enough to be able to accept someone else’s point of view… that’s why I posted this…

The very best of luck to you… and see you at the top…

I'm all about action. I'm definitely a ready, fire, aim person (both a good and bad thing). And sometimes, I also share your sentiment.

But, I agree with Shamou - the approach is a little too rah-rah and preachy. Tell us about the 2 hours every night you spent writing - how did you come to this point? What inspired you? What were the challenges you faced?

And, as a writer, I have to ask you - how long did you spend on revisions (which I consider the longest part of the writing process). How did you decide to market the book? Did you send it to a publisher? How did you feel when you finally sold a copy?

Again...writer to writer...you should show, and not tell.

Ah yes, revisions. I sometimes find myself revising articles weeks after I thought they were finished. When I finally put my book together, I'm going to get myself a professional editor with a track record so I can maximize the time spent revising.

Excellent advise John...

The rumor has it that Tony Robbins wrote "Awaken the Giant Within" in 29 days... however, he had a whole bunch of people editing it at the same time...

BTW - The book turned out pretty well...

Default W/O revision

Yeah. Edward De Bono wrote "The book of Wisdom" iirc in like three days. It was a book about several of his ideas bound together, like an anthology of comments, so that didn't really call for editing. There are stories all over about writing without editing. Asimov allegedly rarely edited his work.

Many people can write something good enough to publish without editing. Can you-- can I? Well, for me I have to say, "Not yet." (I've just arrived at "conscious incompetence" at writing... very exciting! I suspect that I will arrive at that many times though as my standards raise...)
