Default Passion & Motivation

Nothing worthwhile was ever achieved without Passion. Passion is what makes the difference between mediocrity and success.

Great man are animated by passion… Great achievements were the results of Passion…

We all have Passion… we were born with it… however, in many cases, it was all but destroyed by frustration and failures.

This thread is all about Passion… how to get it and how to use it…

Let us share stories on how Passion has helped you on occasions and how it has affected your life…

Also any of your personal secrets on how to create it and how to keep the flame alive…

.

Stephen Covey's habit #2 in his book "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People":

That's a cool rule Dusty... and Covey has written a fantastic book... but, what has this got to do with passion...???

Default Imagination, humour!

Yeh, passion is so necessary and powerful! Imagination, and humour, are powerful tools to fuel passion and keep it roaring! For instance, take a simple exercise like setting a goal and say, just for example, wanting to get stronger. As a personal trainer, if I thought the client could be open to it, I would advise them to try some positive affirmation and visualisation, and then check on their progress. I observe that a lot of adults have forgotten how to use their imagination and sense of humour, and how powerful they are. They might tell me something like, 'Yeh, I wrote I am stronger, and I picture myself lifting a heavy weight'. Boring!!! Message to concious mind...ignore! Like trying to start a fire with wet kindling and matches... good luck. I would advise and encourage them to get fired up. Lets say it's a female client. For example, 'I am so #@%#ing strong that when I pushed my husbands car out of the bog, picked him up when he fainted, and carried him to the bench to lie down, all the bystanders (especially the hunky guys) were screaming and cheering. Next thing, some talent scout comes out of the crowd, drops to his hands and knees, and in front of everyone, starts begging me to be a body double for Jessica Alba in her next action movie. How did I feel? What do you reckon, does awesome ring a bell! My husband is all over me like a rash!' Each individual can come up with something that pertains to them. Flicks all sorts of switches, and calls into play all sorts of abilities, both concious and unconcious. It's like watching an awesome movie instead of a slow, boring dud. Also, don't use the same affirmation and visualisation over and over... boring!!! Have an arsenal of them, variety is the spice of life. Finally, pay attention to, and get fired up in the same way about any improvements and results. Remember what it was like to be a kid! Arnold was, and is a master at it. Pretty good results to say the least too!

Default Oh Yeh!

Oh Yeh, I left out a crucial bit of information regarding my last post... sorry but this is all second nature to me. Get in the picture! Use the tools at your disposal, your senses... touch, taste, smell, sight, sound, emotion, feelings. Be the star of your picture, not just a spectator! And relax with it, enjoy it. Just do your best. Practise makes perfect. One thing I hate seeing is people in supposed meditation and visualisation classes, with their faces all furrowed in worry, bodies knotted in stress, and the 'teacher' barking instructions at them'. They haven't got a chance.

Ah yes, passion!

And it's so much easier to come by if we dedicate ourselves to things we can feel passionate about!

Passion follows purpose. That's my secret to creating passion!

A person might feel passion about one of his natural gifts, like painting, writing, or counseling. But if he can find a way to use the gifts he is passionate about to advance a cause he really believes in, he will become a true force of nature, and nothing will be able to stop him.

I started building my Web Site two weeks ago, a true object of passion! In two weeks, I've reserved the domain name, installed WordPress, customized the heck out of my navigation and presentation, started monetizing, started the first round of multi-browser debugging, and most imporantly, I've written 18 articles, close to 40 pages. This project is very dear to my heart! My passion is my driving force. Without passion, I'd still be sitting around thinking about doing it instead of making it happen. Two weeks worth of 15 hour days is no sweat when you love what you're doing!

Maybe we're using different words to describe the same thing, or maybe our different personalities have different preferences, but I prefer feeling driven rather then feeling passionate. Steve has an interesting article about the difference between passion and discipline.

I find that when I hold the thoughts, visualizations, and feelings I want in the end, it inspires me like no other to TAKE ACTION... and that's habit #1 - "Be Proactive"

Wayne Dyer says - Inspiration = in spirit, and I think most people know what one can do when they are in that state!

Namaste

Here is the link: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/200...lf-discipline/

When I feel driven, I'm very calm, but I'm moved to take on the next task toward accomplish my important goal - a goal I know I can achieve, and a goal I would love to achieve. I feel I know exactly what is the next action to take to accomplish my goal, and it's not a question of getting myself motivated, I feel very motivated, but in a calm way. I felt it this semester as I felt driven toward getting straight A's in my all of classes for the first time. I loved feeling driven.

passion is important, but can lead to many problems if not associated with self-discipline. A lot of people have a really big passion, the same passion as people who are successful, but do actually....nothing. They lack self-discipline. This lead to many psychological problems, when you want something, but you can't do it, this lead to psychological problems, from stess and anxiety to psychosis. Passion is the car, and self-discipline is the fuel.

Thank you for the thread... and for this reply... and, as you hinted before... we are both saying the same thing but using different words...

Feeling anything is experiencing a particular or a combination of emotions...

So, we are both saying the same thing... simply a different way of expressing it...

Good luck to you...

When I come across obstacles in trying to achieve something I use to say to myself: -Wow! Why did this happen? Which doors will this open? Which new opportunities does this set out for me?

It may sound like I am lying to myself, it was a failure that led me to this situation. But if you take on another approach, you see that this is your way of learning. This is your adventure, and like in every good fantasy saga, you will encounter many challenges. But foremost you will participate in the most exciting journey!

My point is: Fire up your feelings! See the world with new eyes! Take on the most marvellous journey and feel the strong winds breezing on the stormy sea! You are alive and this is your greatest adventure ever!
