Yes, this technique you suggested would definitely work! I've also had coaches suggest that you could write out your affirmation on a paper 50-100x/day! See, the problem here you're having comes in the programming (or "paradigms") that you have in your subconscious mind. (This is where your fear is coming from.) To successfully change these paradigms, you must repeatedly feed certain, desirable information to your subconscious mind by using your subconscious mind effectively. Your Conscious Mind can:
Your Subconscious Mind:
So always choose to think of the desirable information with your conscious mind (that you want to feed your subconscious mind) and with repetition, over time, new paradigms will form. I recommend writing out 5 actions you can take every day that would help you push past your social fear (or "terror barrier"). On top of that, maybe some affirmations you could use would be:
Just make sure you state them in the present tense (as if they're already true) because this is the information that you want to feed your subconscious mind. On top of that (and in conjunction with it, too), you could also start each affirmation out with "I am so happy and grateful now that..." and then go on to list the affirmation. This part I strongly recommend you follow. Hope this helps! |

| You have to do it as long as it takes to form the new desirable paradigms. Remember, it's taken a lifetime for the paradigms you have now to be developed, so they aren't going to go away overnight. You can only strengthen and weaken paradigms; they cannot completely be destroyed. So consistency is the key in forming the new paradigms you want. I recommend taking this action for AT LEAST 90 days in order to reap the benefits. Quote:
While this list may sound labor intensive, it's what's required if you're seriously committed to changing your life. Quote:
You may have heard of performers who get "stage fright" before they go on. I've known some people who've been on the stage too many times to count, and still everytime before they go on, they get scared out of their wits! Bob Proctor calls this a "terror barrier," and you have to push past it each and every time if you want to succeed. Think of it this way: If you are afraid to do something, that means by doing it, you're going to grow as an individual. See, the fear/anxiety is caused by your subconscious mind saying, "No! Don't do it!" But every time you do do it, then you strengthen your will-power and become more and more comfortable doing it. So, bottom line...reciting affirmations make help ease your anxiety over time (with repetition); however, like performers, regardless of how much you do it, you may still . At times like these, use relaxation techniques to lessen the anxiety (such as deep breathing, affirming positive remarks to yourself in your head, and relaxing your body/muscles). I recommend looking into the book "Performing Under Pressure" by Dr. Saul L. Miller. I've read this and it has definitely helped ease my nerves when I've been "uptight" and had to perform under pressure. | ||

I can't see any harm being done in adding more affirmations if you wanted. You see one of the greatest benefits of going through this exercise (regardless of the number of affirmations you use) is that when you listen to your empowering affirmations, it puts you into a positive emotional state, which puts you and your desire(s) in alignment with each other, ultimately helping these things and experiences become naturally attracted into your life. The more you gain control of what emotional state (or "level of vibartion") you're in at any given time (eg. whether it's by listening to your affirmations or by controlling your thoughts), then the more conscious control you've developed over your mind, and the more you can impress positive information on your subconscious mind at your own choosing. There's a popular visualization tool out on the market called "Mind Movies", and in creating a mind movie, you have many many many short, powerful affirmations (along with exciting pictures of what you want to) put together in a 3-min (or so) video you create. In one of these visualization movies, you'd likely have many more than 13 affirmations in one of these, and that leads to the fundamental concept that comes behind changing your paradigms/subconscious programming: Repetition Is Key! You could be using 50 affirmations or just 5 affirmations, but the thing that's really going to help you change as a person and create the new programming in your subconscious mind is the number of times you go through and experience these affirmations. I think the number of affirmations you have on your MP3 recording is up to you; however, I think you should pick out your Top 1-3 (or so) and follow the steps of writing those top ones out, reading them 10x (at least) every day, (etc.) for those exercises. Touching the affirmation card in your pocket and listening to your affirmations throughout the day for the rest of your affirmations should be enough to (over time) solidify the process of creating and establishing dominance with your new desirable programming. Bottom Line: The number of affirmations you use in your MP3 doesn't matter. Just ensure that you repeatedly use them to firmly ingrain the right programming into your subconscious mind to ultimately make the changes you want. I'm glad to hear the looped MP3 is already making you feel better! Good luck in sticking with this improvement! Let me know how things work out! :) |

I think they will be helpful, even if to constantly remind yourself first thing each day of your goals in improving yourself. But like many other areas, getting better in social situations requires practical experience of being in such situations more often. Just reading about this field without actually getting out there will not do much good. I would suggest that you use your affirmations to give yourself a push to do the practical requirements of getting yourself in more social situations and shadowing those who seem to be really good with such skills so you can learn from them. |

After 3 days i feel slightly different almost as if its harder for me to fall into a bad mood. Your definately right about choosing 3 and writing them down. I think im going to write them out on actual cards, whilst at the same times write them out 15 times a day. do you know any other tricks to improve your subconscious.
