Default What is your Definition of Success…???

What is your Definition of Success…???

Most members are striving to achieve success… so, I thought that it would be interesting if you could share with us your definition of success…

My definition is rather simple… it is, “To feel good for the right reasons most of the time…”

What is yours…???

When I can basically sit back and think...ahh...nothing to care about if I don't want to.

So this may need quite a lot of cutting down esp. if I want it to come close to a sentence. But here is draft one, just written:

-learn to reliably lucid dream, remember and learn from/listen to my dreams
-support myself as soon as rationally possible as to deture whatever stunts in growth may be sustained via long term mother dependence (currently 20y.o.)
-participate in rich, colourful relationships with people whom support my growth into the heavens and groundedness on the earth
-to feel myself gravitate toward and naturally fulfill a challenging calling to serve and reduce suffering in a way I feel is best for me
-Then to find many productive hobbies like out-of-body meditations, possibly a martial art, etc.
-learn about heallth, life paths, emotions, meditations, PD, etc. and benifit others with solid, experience or article-founded advice
-maintain a healthy mind/body/spirit fit for longevity and ease of use/functionality
-find that no matter how much responsibility and work is required of me to sustain a living I always find time and space to find space in time and learn, grow, & progress aswell as love, serve, and enjoy
-in ten years I want a house i'm planning on reselling, a job i'm planning on changing, a girl im thinking about marrying and friends
-in 15 yeras I want to be commited to a woman with which i share a hobby or two, friends that share regular hobbies with me and overall a peaceful life (considering children)

This is possibly more like goals but what better definition of success than goals, they could possibly use a bit more generalization for an overall definition, but as of now, these are my ideals... Also I wrote this down earlier...

To consider information openly but accept and use them only if they are beneficial to the functional, good/easy feeling and long life of my physical body; functional, helpful/useful to goals, and more often balanced emotional body; Truth, Compassion, Love-serving, and Joy-serving intellect capable of discerning what life course best supports true progression toward Naturalness in the context of long term being. The intellect must learn to lay down its fear when the truer knowledge is speaking.

Man, I am long winded. Add that to the list: progression to succinctity.

Being really happy, having the felling that you are doing what you are able to do.

One of the reason that I started this thread is that I have seen in my practice an inordinate amount of people who had achieved most of their goals or objectives in life and yet were quite unhappy…

The main reason for that unhappiness was the fact that these people pursued goals thinking that achieving those goals would make them happy yet, it was far from being the case…

There is also the case of many celebrities who had achieved everything, prestige, fortunes, fame etc… yet committed suicide… they had it all… except personal happiness…

So, I thought that it would be helpful to have people determine exactly what they thought success was… and, I am very please to see that most members of this board see success as a state of mind rather than in material acquisition…

Congratulations to you guys…

The crucial ingredient that most people are missing is purpose. When we are young, our parents ask us what we want to be. We respond by saying we want to be a movie star, a fireman, a scientist -- some sort of job title. But no one ever stops to ask us to define the mission statement of our life.

Of course, when we are five years old, we don't have a mission statement. But most children are never even encouraged to think about it. We grow up thinking that the key to happiness is a job, a mortgage, and material possessions.

It is not.

My definition was "determination, purpose, and love." I know lots of determined people. And I know lots of loving people. But until one combines these two forces with a true sense of purpose, happiness may remain elusive.

The old saying that it is better to give than to receive has more meaning than many realize. And I'm not talking about generic charity. I'm talking about the giving of our purpose, our mission, to the world.

To me, it's a few things...

-Living life on your own terms

-Exceeding even your wildest expectations.

-Having great people around you to share it with

-Having fun along the way

Mine is figuring out human intelligence and key technologies to help save the world from the conflict caused by resource depletion, and to help stabilize the phase transition of nature.. i.e. quarks->[neutrons/protons]->atoms->molecules->organic molecules->cells->organs->person->society->[???? better working society????]

From this awesome website I stumbled apon:
Quote:
The search to understand and accurately model human intelligence may represent the critical knowing for our species. With this knowing, every human has the potential to elevate their thinking to the level of genius. With this knowing, the majority of mental illnesses can be better understood and controlled. With this knowing, we can create thinking machines in short order, and set them to helping us solve our most pressing problems. And, with this knowing, we can put away anger, fear and conflict, and begin building a world filled with love, trust and co-Operation
The News for a Synergic Earth : gave me some new direction of how to apply myself.

My search for information about the second law of thermodynamics, and information theory lead me to check out cybernetics, which lead me to check out Synergetics, which lead me to stumble upon this ebook on the internet:

http://www.synearth.net/coulter/synergetics.pdf will be what I'll be shooting for. Be "synergetic" in everything that I do.

Which is an awesome coincidence that I found that pdf right after Steve started promoting Learning Strategies "Tap the Power of your Genius Mind"

Scratch my last definition of success. I heard one that I like better:

Success is when you are able to make all energies, "good" and "bad", work FOR you.

I heard it in this program:

ideaGasms - Girlfriend Training Program

At higher consciousness levels, you will come to KNOW that EVERYTHING is love... that things most people judge as "bad" are just projections of the mind - ego, and therefore illusions.

David Icke knows what he is talking about:

"Love is the only truth."

Success: Learning from one's own failings and mistakes and producing a healthy level of self-efficacy.

I would agree with many definitions of success previously presented. The concept is something I grasp in many ways though gaining insight into my experiences and lessons learned. I have a sense of different levels of success that begin with simply being. Each moment I acknowledge and also encounter obstacles, success is also defined by finding ways to understand and overcome them.

This website offers a variety of eye-opening perspectives on success:
