Default Close to a promotion....

What do you do when your manager tells you you'll be ready for a promotion in a few months that will help seal the deal and get there faster?

As I've been wanting this promotion for MONTHS (long before I was even remotely ready for it), I'm already doing all those typical things to get noticed/show my work ethic like arriving early, staying late, getting involved in extra projects, being well groomed etc (I haven't even had a holiday or a sick day for ages!).

Anything I could possibly do to get it faster? Or will I just have to wait it out till early next year?

I would just chill out and play it cool, dont think about getting it quicker, just focus on maintaining and also dont get your hopes to high. I feel like there was a scene similar to this in office space, where he was ready to get a promotion but then they decided to give it to somebody else. If you are going to do anything, think about the position you may be getting, prepare for it, maybe read or something, at least go over how you would like to run that position so that if you do get it you will already be ahead and on track for the next one.

If I were you I would keep an eye on job opportunities in other companies. I would also do some voluntary work in a field that might increase my market value. Bottom line: Don't get stressed out by your manager but don't let him keep you on hold.

If you really want to seal the deal, go directly to your manager and ask what YOU can do for THEM to make THEIR job easier. People are inherently selfish. Anything you can do for a boss/business owner/person with the money and power will help you get promoted/close a sales deal/get what you want.
