Its interesting how the mind works, such a complicated thing is the human brain. For the past 6 months i been taking weight lifting seriously, dieting/counting calories/no carbs on weekdays/lifting hard 3x a week/taking protein and cratine/trying to reach my daily macros, you get the point lol, i have drive to these things, its automatic, i dont even think about it, i just do it, my question to you all is, how can i get DRIVE to fix other aspects in my life, like my lack of social skills, my low self esteem, as hard as i want to change these things in my life i cant get a natural drive to fix them. The mind is a beautifull thing.

For you to form the habit of lifting and dieting, you must have started out with a powerful incemtive. So it seems you do not have a strong enough incentive to improve your social skills. I would say to form a real goal around this, other than just being more socially comfortable. Tie it to something you really desire, such as networking to gain a promotion or a new level of success in business, meeting and impressing the lady of your dreams, etc. Then do some daily practice, just like doing your daily exercise by putting yourself out there and have something to say. High self-esteem is a by-product of high achievement. If you continue your physical reigmen. rack up successes in other areas, and also help people in need, your esteem will build itself. You can also use self-talk; counteracting negative thoughts about yourself with positive affirmations. |

Recognize that the success and discipline that you achieved in your workouts can be transferred over to other areas of your life. This is the same premise in martial arts training and the main reason why many parents enroll their kids into martial arts classes these days. They put their kids into karate, taekwondo, kung fu and other classes not with the intention of learning to fight as the main objective. They understand that kids learn discipline and what it means to work hard towards the different levels. When these kids advance through their levels, they also gain self confidence. These positive attributes are all transferred into other areas such as schoolwork and social encounters. The kids learn to focus better in schoolwork which improves their grades. They are also better with social interactions since they have the confidence. You just have to understand what made you achieve some good results in your health and then use those same factors to apply them to your other areas of life as if you were starting a new workout program again. Success involves many of the same things. Once you are successful in one area, you can become successful in other areas as well as long as you take the same approaches. |
