Do you like to dance? Do you ever find yourself dancing and singing when you are alone? Do you ever dance with your children? If you find yourself doing any of these things, I bet it always brings a smile to your face. Dancing is good for you in so many ways. You have the physical aspect of dancing. This is were you get your heart rate up. It also helps with your coordination and balance. These things help to stimulate your physical well being, including loosing weight. Then you have the mental aspect of dance. This is were you get lost in the moment and you just let yourself go. Letting go is always a good thing, at least for a little while. It helps to keep the stress level down, which is always good for prolonging your quality of life. Next, you have the spiritual connection to dance. When you really get lost in the moment while dancing, it seems to stir the inner you. We spend a lot of time trying to contain ourselves and it is nice just to let go sometimes. Our inner spirit is our guide through life and it always helps to stay connected. Then you have the fun factor of dance. We do most of our dancing in a private setting and this ok. We all have our own reason for keeping our dancing private, but we still like to do it. We dance and laugh and sing because it is fun. Life is meant to be fun. Don’t be embarrassed, just do it, because life is to short. SMILE |

I understand why some people find dancing very spiritual but for me personally dancing is something that is just awkward, even when I am on my own. I rarely dance unless I am practicing a particular dance and I've never found myself dancing randomly. Maybe its just me. Singing on the other hand is something I do constantly, even without thinking about it (although I sound like a drowning cat when I sing). |

I think we are going to find a variety of preferences here when it comes to dancing. Some of it might be culturally based. For example, many Latin American cultures have a ton of dance. Whenever I travel down to the Latin American countries, it seems that all of their people are dancing machines!

music just excites me and draws me in. i dance to any strong beat music. but i'm not the "powerful energetic" type of dancer. so i'm not for Hammer time. my dancer teacher feels that my style is more of a graceful slow deliberate dancer. so i'm good for slow mysterious music. yes, i feel dancing is spiritual, but so is singing and playing instruments for me. i once lost myself and seemed to go to a altered state of consciousness while playing drums with two friends.
