Here recently I have lost a few people that were close to me (my little brother, my Mother & my Father In-law). They all had very different personalities and accepted there final days in different form. This made me start thinking about the Whole dying thing. What I realized is the fact that no matter how much focus we put on things or ideas, it all has to come to an end. In each one of the situations these 3 people experienced, though there thoughts on life were very different, they all seemed to have one common theme in there last week here on earth. They were not concerned with societies thoughts about them or there situation. These three people were simple engulfed in their own thoughts and emotions without the outside influence of other people. Shouldn't we live every day this way? SMILE

I was never a big fan of Timothy Leary, but when he was dying he kept an online blog where he made dying sound interesting and exciting. He carried it off with wit and style. I'm sorry, I googled it for you but I couldn't find it. A deep repentance. Nothing in his life Became him like the leaving it. |

I think that you bring up a good point. With the possibility of death at any time, I think that most people simply shy away from wanting it to happen (when we aren't terminally ill). However, I think that people who know that death is about to come for them, when they come to accept this inevitability, they are at peace with themselves and radiate from within, as you were saying. Bill Harris touched on this point in 2003 Spring Retreat (audio recordings). |

Years ago I used to go to classes on Buddhism The monk who taught us used go on about the fact that we are going to die. It happens to everyone. It's not something we normally consider! When you realise your own mortality, you get a better appreciation for the fact that you are alive and you're lucky. Every day you have the ability to simply go out in to the world and experience some really nice things. |

| "I try to live every day as though it were my last, and who wants to do laundry on the last day they're alive?" Good point about making the most of our lives, but I think there's also a sense of freedom in just living as if we're eternal. I'm glad that I don't know when I'm going to die. It would stress me out so much if I did. "I plan on living forever. So far, so good." |
