As long as I can think I have severe concentration problems. When I try to read a book I get tired very soon, when I try to follow a lecture at the university I am just dreaming away. - Needless to say that my grades are poor and that my performance is that of a proven underachiever. Nevertheless when my parent sent me to an IQ-test, the result was an amazing 142. Stunned to the utmost myself, I just decided to change my life - read some of the books of Steve and found that really intriguing. A few days ago a friend of mine told me that he was using binaural beats for meditation. I have never heard of that - but did some research on that. People say it works - but my biggest fear is that I might get addicted to it. And what appeared strange to me is the fact that this technique is obviously used to manipulate people. Here is a samle I found on YouTube ??? [eye] GET MY BINAURAL OVERDOSE !!! [your ultimate trip] - YouTube Is there anybody who can give me good advice on this topic? |

I stumbled across an article about iDose and digital drugs recently. To me it all sounds like crap. I am very skeptic about this matters, tried Drugs and consumed hem for a while. But all this nonsense of it being Drugs... But it is true that I've used, with success, all kinds of music to soothe my soul and feel relaxed. This binaural Beats thing is also interesting: frequencies altering the brain where a widely popular notion in some circles back in the 70's (look at Philipp K. Dick Valis, for example). Maybe it is just another comeback. I'll hear it and tell you what I think about it. Cheers, Feuerfuchs |

| Exactly, that's what I mean, Machoman. "Digital" Drug? - it's just a way to get young and naiv people hooked up I guess. But for meditation it should work. I tried some things like that and it helped me being relaxed, keeping my mind away and blank, if oyu know what I mean...

thanks, guys for your attention. At least it is good to hear that there is no danger to get addicted. But still I wonder about these messages which are inserted in the video. Is it possible that they can induce some information which maybe reactivated later?

Don't worry. I've already watched the link you've posted and: a) I didn't get anything (soothing sensation maybe through that funny backward voices) and b) There are no messages hidden

Hi, I used binaural music for relaxing. There are some quite good tracks - you even find them on youtube, but some of these tracks are awsome and unpleasant to hear. I don't think that there are hidden messages in tehm. They are saying this for decades, some addicts have found such allegedly hidden messages even in songs from the Beatles. This is all conspiracy crab.

You live in a world where all sorts of people program information into yourself that get's reactivated. Information like: It's necessary to fear the unknown. It's really crappy programming. That crappy program motivates your questions. There a good chance it was even installed unintentionally. If that program is so strong that it prevents you from looking at those messages that flash in the video, close your eyes instead of looking at the video. It always amazes me that people have no problem with getting programmed through stuff that's in their plain sight but suddenly get scared of subliminal audio/video. Flashing stuff for shorter duration than are required to notice the item consciously can sometimes produce a small reaction. When it comes to audio meaning can be hidden in metaphors but the products that are generally sold as subliminal audio tapes don't contain "active ingredients". Quote:
The "This emotion is so strong that I'm feeling like it's too much"-category is possible. I did it three weeks ago to another person during an NLP workshop. If you work well enough you can induce any mental state in another person that they want to have. I don't know how far you can go without words and feedback through pure binaural beats but there no reason to think that there no way that it can work.

Binaural beats are good to listen to and I doubt that you would get addicted. They use brain waves to input certain information, if using it in a self hypnosis kind away or just as a frequency played at a certain range, to induce certain states of your awakening like theta, delta, alpha, beta or gamma. They do this by playing a certain frequency in one ear and another frequency, in the other and the tone left over, is the one the brain recognizes as the binaural beat pattern. If you can place a subliminal or affirmation at the right tone or beat, then your sub-conscious has a better ability, to let it seep in, seeing as your brain will be in meditation mode and your conscious thoughts would have subsided slightly. I found a site that uses software, that it says goes beyond any other form of self-hypnosis and binaural beat. If you are interested you can check it out here Mind Zoom. thanks Brutha, for you being so patient. That was really illuminative - describing how limited the influencing potential really is. And you are right emphasizing the paradox that people would complain about subliminial messages, but not about boosted posters right in front of them Nevertheless the video which I stumbled upon makes an intensive use of that - to an extent that people are wondering about what purpose it was meant for. |

It's probably about doing some form of charkra cleansing/opening to feel the positive emotions that the title of the video promises. I don't know in what extend that approach actually works but that probably the theory on which the video got created.

According to a Dr. I know that has been doing neuro-feedback for years, binaural beats do not alter your brainwaves in a manner most advertised. Neurofeedback |

The brain is regulated by electromagnetic waves and chemical processes. I think music has always been a means to get logged into the brain, smoothing or exciting your moods. Indian music, North African music and even the music of the American natives has patterns and structures which are able to put the mind in a state which is to be described as trance. Especially in shamanistic rites this is used with intention. But every music has the potential to alter mind activities. Why not binaural beats? I don't think that they are a really new invention. Its probably the word "drug" in this context which induces more effect than the music itself. But anyway it's worth listening to all this idose and binaural beats stuff. It triggers something as does all music. Just listen to it. And if there are any subliminal messages hidden in it - so what. I don't believe that written words as used in the samples of Sheikh Salamat Parveen would do any harm. I believe in sounds and the structured patterns of the musical universe.

I might suggest you doing some research on mind and light machines. The name is quite unique but for a better description..... They use light flashes in a pair of glasses and several different beats and tones including music through headphones to induce different levels of brain activity. Beta , alpha, theta, delta. I use mine and get a good results. I have difficulty meditating. My mind seems to have a mind of it's own!! With my glasses and sound unit I have better luck at "tuning" out distractions. Now a few individuals might have reservations inducing different levels of consciousness this way. The method has been used for years by clinics around the world to treat everything from pain to PTSD. I also have a float tank that I would like to try my mind machine in but I have not found a way to waterproof it yet. Jose Silva is another pioneer in using sound to induce alpha. Just my 2 cents worth...........
