Did anybody tell me what is the right attitude at work place.
As a fresher and as a professional, what point are kept in mind so that your personality get improved.

During my work and as my personal experience i felt that only knowledge never make you famous. There are so many other point that make you more effective.

Question

Simi,

Can you dissect your question/topic?

It started off with a question and the
last portion lost me.

Continue to make this the best day ever!

Won't Be Denied!

If you are a "people's people" that is... interested in others... you will make a lot of contacts... friends... and soon... you'll be running the place...

There are people who put "I am very serious because I do very important job" mask every morning before they come to the office. Don't do that! Smile! Those who really have to judge you will do that based on results of your work, not your posture. I try to smile as much as I can because I like to show everybody that I can do my job with ease.
You're right, knowledge alone will not make you famous. Pretending that you're famous and important will neither. What you really want to be famous of are the results of your work, your relationship with colleagues and your positive influence to them.

As shamou said be interested in other people, not just at work but everywhere. New oppertunity's will just fall into your lap that way.

Simi,

I'm pleasantly glad (er... ;-) ) that I come across your query here, cos I was just thinking about it myself... I was reflecting on my past 22 years of working in my career and there are so many lessons I've learnt about attitudes that one should adopt at the office.

Since you are new, it is best that you adopt an attitude of learning just like a dry sponge and try to absorb as much good work practices from seniors in the company and at the same time blinding yourself to the bad attitudes you will definitely come across or see in the office.

Humility and graciousness as a "newbie" in the office is also important. You should show one and all in the office that you are someone who respects people - their thots, beliefs, values and decisions - regardless of their age or position in the company. People are also observing you and you'll never know when the boss is looking - I'm not suggesting that you should only work when the boss is looking! You will never know when word will get back to the boss by peers or subordinates or superiors of things they see about you!

Be flexible and adaptable and willing to take on any challenge that is placed on you. This way, you will be able to learn and prove that no challenge is insurmountable for you. This is especially so for those "dirty" tasks which no one seem to want to take on - maybe it is tough or doesn't seem to have that glamour or perhaps thankless task. You will learn more and you will grow faster by taking on challenges. Also, bosses will see that you are a one-of-a-kind and can be relied upon to take on challenges - bosses like these kinda people!

There are so much more I can share, but then, these to me are important and brought me to where I am now...

Try it and see if it works!

Good luck!
