So I've finally decided to become a psychologist, specifically a sex therapist. It'll be easier to find jobs in this area than as a Sexuality Studies professor or a Sexologist. There is a roadblock however. I need to pay my tuition from undergrad so they'll release my transcripts. I also need to take extra coursework in psychology to boost my GPA and secure teacher recommendations. I also want to fix my credit so I can get private loans just incase. Which means I'll have to work for a few years. So here's my issue. I could just get any old job like as an administrative assistant or I can try to get a job I'd love in my area of passion, such as dancer or counselor. Jobs I'd genuinely enjoy are few and far between. Admin jobs are plenty but they're hard to get because tons of people are applying for them and I hate the process of applying for these jobs, it's like pulling teeth. I hated my last office job and burned out. Waitressing jobs make peanuts and you're up on your feet all day dealing with rude customers. Because jobs I'd love in my area of interest are so hard to get, it'll take much longer to get hired. Meanwhile I could apply to tons of administrative assistant jobs each week. So what do you think: if you were me, would you just look for any job that would pay the bills or only pursue jobs you would enjoy? |

It's not an issue of what I want. If you are somewhat attractive, there are a ton of opportunities available involving sex. If you potentially attractive but haven't taken good care of your body, you can just take good care of your body and then there are a ton of opportunities available involving sex. I looked at some of your previous posts and you stated you had problems with dieting. Dieting is very simple: find something that gives you pleasure or relieves tension that is NOT food, and focus on it. Women seem to have a problem taking the not eating thing too far (becoming anorexic), but really, not eating is the only way to burn fat. It's simple. It only takes a long time if you are trying to cut 100 calories a day from your diet, instead of using a real diet where you are at a real deficit. |

It seems that you might be in a bind and have to bite the bullet so to speak and get a job that is not in your interest. However, you don't have to give up completely. There may be jobs that might be useful towards you being a better therapist. A customer service job might teach you how to handle people when they are distraught or something. I know I have learned a lot about people through working at a hotel front desk. You may not get a dream job but you dont have to get one you hate.

What would a real diet be? The raw food diet?

| What you need is a good pimp. Prostitution, pornography and nude modeling come to mind. But that's just the obvious. There are many "behind the scenes" alternatives. You could be a photographer instead of the photographed. Like, here is an idea if you don't feel comfortable with your body as it is right now. Start a blog/website. Write erotic stories. Record yourself reading these stories. Monetize with (relevant) affiliate offers and by offering to read other people's scripts. Bottom line, be creative. |

Cro, I wouldn't bother with these! The last paragraph... umm I'd use a pen name if you do that one! Also, everyone is a photographer these days, and that needs training and also an established name or customer base. You'd have to hussle otherwise. I would apply for both jobs that pay the bills, and ones you enjoy. If you get an admin job, just keep applying for good ones, and leave when something comes along, or if you start to burn out. Also, ask everyone you know if they know anyone who's looking to hire someone, I don't know what the stats are but it's something silly like only 10% of jobs are filled by application/interview process.

My advice is do whatever you need to do – taking a job that isn’t what you want ultimately does not mean having to give up on your ambitions, there are many roads to get to where you want to be. If for now you need to compromise – see it as a step to getting what you do want, use the contacts you make whilst doing this and make smaller goals which build up to your chosen goal. Do not give up on your dreams and always remain focused – and eventually you will succeed. |

Not eating is the only way to burn bodyfat. Or rather, not eating is the only way to avoid replenishing the bodyfat that you burn throughout the day. Unless you have an actual disease that prevents your body from absorbing what it eats. The book I read was full of nonsensical stuff that lots of people fail with. Nobody has ever failed to lose weight by not eating, ever. They might fail to not eat, that's all. You need to spend most of your time under a caloric deficit, regardless of how you do that (fasting, eating 6 very low calorie "meals" a day, exercising like a maniac, cocaine |

| For weightloss, all you need is to avoid treating food as entertainment, and keeping the total calories low over time (you don' have to stop eating completely forever, you just need to balance overeating with undereating. It's okay to eat. Just don't make a habit of eating large meals all the time). The raw food diet might be good for your skin though. Consider water fasting from time to time (no need for 30 day fasts, two days is fine).

So the consensus seems to be to go for both, if I land an admin job I can keep looking for something I'd love. I figure I can volunteer at that sexual freedom non-profit on the side. Thing is, I'm not motivated to look for admin jobs. How do I get motivated? Thanks everyone. |

| That depends on your definition of medium sized meal. If it is up to 1,000 calories and you don't snack throughout the day, yes, you'll see results. It all depends on too many factors, which is why people who recommend you go under a slight deficit don't help, people just can't manage to take all factors into consideration with small deficits, and they have to become obsessed with details for like, their entire lives. If they eat two bananas instead of one, their 100 year plan to lose weight crashes. They could be just focusing on not eating their bad emotions (such as boredom) away, and by doing so getting faster results and enjoying the process more. I highly recommend women do yoga as well. No point simply being skinny.

I don't know if I can get student loans for extra coursework. Do you know anything about that or maybe I should check with the financial aid department at the school?
