| So here's an interesting question to ponder... If you had 24 hours to become a radically "better" (i.e. more developed, enlightened, etc.) human being what would you do? Here are some things that jump to mind: #1 - Meditation - Extremely powerful for feeling grounded, balanced, fearless, etc. #2 - Afformations - Love this even though I was just recently introduced to them. #3 - Exercise - Duh. #4 - Reading ridiculously powerful stuff - Emerson. Wilber. Pavlina. What else would you do if you absolutely knew you had to be a radically better person 24 hours from now?

| 24 hours is a very short amount of time, but in any case.. I would start by specifically identifying in what ways you want to improve, and the reasons. This will allow you to better address them. Usually new, major paradigm shifting experiences can have this kind of an impact, but in a way that can be incredibly difficult to recreate. Something like the events Tony Robbins hosts come to mind... firewalking, etc. You might also try seeking out major events which have affected a lot of peoples' lives in a significant way, and volunteering as an aid in those situations. Anything which helps you alter (and think about) your current perspective of the world in a significant way could be helpful. Kevin |

| For 24 hours to grow, I'd practice radical honesty with my close friends and family, as I sometimes do already. Rather than keeping any problems to myself I'd tell them. Not quite 3 years ago, I had an experience where I nearly died, and once I was out of the hospital I chose to share some things with my dad that I thought I'd take to my grave. It helped. And on a lighter side, a few weeks ago I was at a beach party with most of my closest friends. One I'd developed feelings for last year before realizing she only dated women. At that point I dropped any ideas of being anything but a friend, but at the beach trip I finally told her how I'd felt, as we'd been opening up about a lot of things. She was flattered, thanked me, and we ended up kissing, then held each other quite a bit for the rest of the weekend. Holding her brought tears to my eyes because I'd never expected any of that. It was very freeing, and now I feel we're even better friends. Now if I had 24 hours left to live, I'd spend them as I do most every Thursday already: playing with friends. Talking, tickling, massaging, climbing trees, and just enjoying each other. |

| This is how Tony Robbins answered that question... (from his book" "Awaken the Giant Within...") Quote:

| If it were me, I'd post a message on my blog inviting people to my house (or some other meeting location -- I'm assuming no time to plan in advance), and offer a free impromptu workshop on personal growth. Based on whoever happened to show up on such short notice (whether 1 person or 10), I'd do my best to work out a custom program on the spot to address their greatest challenges. I'd have food brought in for lunch, and take advantage of the brainpower in the room to do group brainstorming for each person as well as sharing my own advice and ideas. The goal would be to give each person as much of a boost as possible. I think reaching out to help others is really the best way to accelerate our own growth. I love blogging of course, but I usually experience bigger personal gains from face-to-face interaction, so that's the medium I'd chose in this case. For several months Erin and I actually did something along these lines, hosting a small group in our living room each week. I enjoyed it quite a bit. We even tried things like group telepathy experiments.

| Probably the most productive thing a person could do for him/herself in 24 hours is an ultramarathon. Given 24 hours, I think most people could run (or at least walk) 100 miles. The physical improvement from only one day of exercise, no matter how strenuous, will of course be small. Mentally though, it would show a person exactly what they're capable of- anything. Proving that to one's self beyond doubt would definitely be worth the time and resulting injury. |

| Dorothy, that sounds so great I think I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Starting with you. Your posts are so darned thoughtful and fun. I really enjoy reading what you write. I'll check back with you at 3:12pm tomorrow and let you know how it went. |

| Good stuff guys. I especially like Steve's post as well as the suggestion to go on a "gratitude binge." For the latter do you have any specific recommendations?
