Recently i feel like breaking away from my same mundane daily routine, my life is pretty boring if you ask me, every other day i get up at 7am, on workout days i get up at 5am, walk one of my dogs for 30min, feed em, eat bfast, mess around with the pc till about 10:30am , go to work, get back from work around 5pm, sometimes take a nap, at 8pm i take my other dog for a 30min walk (they r both pullers, cant take both at the same time),get back from walk feed em, eat dinner, some tv or pc time till about 11pm, repeat the routine the next day, on days off, i normally clean the house. Im getting this urge to break from the routine, there are days when i think its ground hog day lol, I would love to travel more, socialize more, it doesnt help that im not the most sociable person in the world and actually do not have one friend, i am greatfull im close with my family, my brother is my best friend. Ps, I would like to mention, that i dont have the urge to make new friends, it would be nice though................ |

It is GREAT you are searching for a change. No matter what, that tends to help people change. I would really start looking at your life.. What do you want with it? What's your ultimate goal & purpose? What do you want to do with the rest of your life? These are big questions, and the sooner you answer them, the faster you can move on and get started! Practical suggestions:

If your dogs pull, why don't you try either a Gentle Leader or Halti head collar for them? Mine use to pull but my dog trainer suggested a Gentle Leader for them and they no longer pull as much. For more info on this particular issue, see Stop Dog Pulling On Leash.

If you really want to break the routine, you'll eventually get sick of it and move on. However, if you don't do it, that means that you're perfectly comfortable with your current situation and that this "I want to break from the routine" is only a phase. |

Yes, im feeling uncomfortable with my current routine, Im planning on going out on the weekends by myself, but for someone that is not used to it, it can be scary lol, i get all these ideas, that only losers go and to things by themselves and people will judge me, but i know that to change i need to get out of my comfort zone, might and i say might go to the Grand Canyon this comming weekend..............

I travel solo about 70% of the time and it's awesome. I can set my own schedule and come and go as I please. Of course it also forces you to become a bit more social unless you want to be alone. There are many solo travellers out there and they all appreciate meeting up with each other.

Hi, I think it's natural to go through phases of being comfortable with where you are and then feeling and *knowing* there must be something more for you in life. The fact that you're already analyzing your "old" (current) routine suggests to me that you are already pretty committed to actually making some changes and welcoming a new exciting phase to your life. And that's a wonderful thing - there are times when we all need to step up and out of our routine; to try something new and find new ways to stimulate, challenge and fulfil ourselves. Thinking about what you feel has been missing in your life in your current routine (i.e. what is it that has made you start thinking about changing things?) would be a great start to working out what you could start to do differently today and into the future to fill that "gap" for you. If travel and socializing are things that you feel your current routine lacks, open your mind to new opportunties and start planning and doing 3 things every day to incorporate these activities into your daily life. If you find that you're not motivated to keep on doing anything differently to incorporate these activities into your life, then perhaps there are other aspects of your life that it would be worth exploring and developing until you find the one that excites you enough to commit to making the changes in that direction. And you'll know when you find it - when you wake up excited to "start doing it already!" - that's the activity that is worth adding to your current routine. Good luck! |

When I am starting to get bored I usually set up a play day. It usually takes me about 2 hours to decide what to do, where to go, and what I need. Last week I planned a trip to the beach and I went. Next week I am going to Disneyland but I bought a ticket before I knew when I would go. I also invited a bunch of people to a party that I haven't planned for. Now I really don't have much of a choice but to have it. You just got to tell yourself you are going to do something out of the ordinary even if it doesn't excite you right away. Stop looking for that perfect plan and perfect time. Just do it. Live already! Last edited by Perry M; 07-30-2011 at 06:08 AM. |
