Isaac Asimov wrote a short story back in 1957 called The Feeling of Power about this very thing.

Interesting. I sometimes do the math in my head or at least on paper just to use my brain. I do have a son, and I worry about what kind of education I'll be providing for him. I want him to be able to think for himself. And I don't mean just math... Losing the ability to think critically is even worse. Changing the subjext: I loved Asimov's Mysteries! |
