I'm around and about quite a bit, being in college. The majority of my time is spent in class, at work, or with friends. The only time I watch TV is if I have a specific show that I like to watch. At this point, that show is Heroes, and I don't even have time to watch it when it airs - I watch it at my friend's apartment on iTunes. Ask me how much non-productive time I spend on my laptop, and you will get quite the different answer. |

All that I watch are things on internet. For example Mind Deprogramming :: Time to purify your brain from the Illuminati Mind Control !!! I wouldn't call it TV, the 'real tv' puts you in a state of mellowedness and fear (the news). Educational and informational stuff on the other hand... helps you grow (amazingly you can't find much if any of this on TV)

I didn't watch any TV for the last six years. And I'd say it gives me much more time to do something useful.

I haven't had cable in my home for over 4 years. I occasionally watch movies and catch some news when I'm at the gym. I have plenty of time to read, socialize and enjoy being outside. I also have 'no computer time' in the evenings to unwind from looking at a computer most of the day. It was a change of environment that got me to kick my tv watching habit --I lived on a college campus that banned cable from the dorms. So after a few months, I didn't even miss it since I was so busy with every other part of my life. |

Well, since I started living on my own, I moved into a furnished apartment with a TV so old you change the channel by turning a knob. Seeing as how I probably wouldn't get good picture quality, I didn't bother signing up for cable, and now I can't say I miss it. Not even the evening news which I used to watch religiously. It didn't provide me with as much sustenance as I thought it did. When I need the odd movie, there's always calling up a friend to go to the theatre, or renting one from the corner store. |

Even though I work and go to school, I find myself watching a lot of tv. Especially the weekends. I think tomorrow (sunday) I'm just going to give it up cold turkey. I suppose I will be spending all that extra time preparing for finals/spenidng it on hw. And maybe I should start reading a book,...besides my txt books. Wish me luck. |

I only watch The Office and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, because to me they always put me in a good space, it's not a large time expenditure and it helps contribute to a positive mental attitude. I used to watch a lot more TV, Lost, Nip/Tuck, Daily Show, Colbert, House, but looking at it I realized what a HUGE time sink it is, so I narrowed it to the only two shows that I think contribute positively to my life.

No one should miss Heroes. Other great shows are House MD and Studio 60. But always as a download (or once on a DVD). It is amazing how different of an experience is watching things on your own schedule. You engage fully when watching them, but do not watch anything that you don't want, just to kill time (and no ads of course). |

I read a great quote the other day: All television is children's television. Richard P. Adler It's true!!

I stopped watching TV when I was in my early teens and there are many postive results and maybe a few negative ones however the negatve ones are hardly a drawback. My dad was actually the one who encouraged (or forced) my family to stop watching TV. I do watch movies however. I have definitely found lots of extra time and the only real drawback is that you cannot participate in conversations related to TV shows. It hasen't really been too much of a problem anyway though.

i am pleasantly surprised to see that most people do not watch tv. i dont watch it, havent for years. only if someone else puts it on and i happen to sit next to them, or very rarely i will turn it on for about 10 minutes, but the noise it makes always gives me such a headache and gives me the creeps energetically. the content is also usually very negative, manipulative and unintelligent.
