But, beyond that, I have found that contributing to making this little planet a better place is the strongest motivator there is... There are three stages of growth: 1) dependence... someone as to look out for you and provide you with the essentials... 2) independence... you can take care of your needs... and finally, 3) interdependence... where you work with other people to achieve what a single individual could not... that's where the big payoff is... and the strongest motivator there is... . |

| most days... I get started because I have to. Because I am the only one to take care of my family's needs. There is no other acceptable option. So therefore.. I do it ... gladly most days. Some days... well I mumble and grumble and think how nice it would be to stay in bed an extra hour or two. How relaxing it would be not to have to take care of anyone for just one day. But then we all have days like that. |

| Gratitude! Each and every morning when I wake up, and again before I go to sleep, I think about all of the things that I have to be grateful for. The trick to using gratitude as fuel for your daily success, however, is to really FEEL it. If you just go through a routine of listing the same things each day, but you don't actually feel strongly grateful about the fact that you have those things in your life, then you won't get much benefit. I work at home most of the time, and that alone gives me a half dozen things to be grateful for before I'm even fully awake - the fact that I don't HAVE to get out of bed is one of them. At night, however, I don't go over the same list of things, but rather think back on the day that just ended and I think about only the things that happened that day. That is a very effective motivator because we tend to go through our lives on autopilot, especially if we are very busy, and who isn't, right? By thinking back on the things that you are grateful for that happened each day, you do start to realize in your soul that you truly do have many things to be thankful for, and many things to look forward to as well. |
