you have to suffer the pain of discipline or the pain of regrets...if you choose the discipline you will be happy in your life. You have to dream big, because anyway you will achieve.

My Life Lessons:

1) People can learn to be more than they dream possible.
2) The most important determinant of success is self-efficacy,which can be cultured in any human being.
3) The only power someone has over you is the power you give them.
4) There is no shame in asking for help when you need it.
5) Always wear comfortable shoes!

My biggest, most profound lessons, and life changing events, were along the lines of there is more to life than meets the eye. That our limits are our beliefs, and the strength of our clinging to those beliefs. That what is unbelievable to some, is totally believable to others, and becomes their creation. 'Miracles' are real, they surround us. We are so much more than some would lead us to believe, or what some would choose to believe. Even a quick investigation can uncover 'miracles' or belief shattering events. Take the case of people we refer to as savants, who exhibit traits that shatter the past limits of science and belief. Traits that are 'unexplainable', and sadly which are hidden away, and ignored. The most profound thing I ever heard, which is hilarious to me now, because at the time it seemed anything but profound, was 'change your mind, change your life'. And that leads to thinking, who is it that can change your mind? And finally, who, and what exactly am I? Ask, and you will receive.

big ones for me - the biggest is on bold.

-Knowing that I am welcome everywhere.
-Knowing that I am not my ego (and distinguishing the two)
-Knowing that the now moment is all there is, was, and ever will be.
-Allowing love, and only love to flow through my life (not taking crap + plowing through fears)
-Accepting myself fully and completely just the way I am (self love + dropping the addiction for approval from others)
-Speaking my truths - ESPECIALLY if everyone around me hates me for it.
-Taking full responsibility for my life

Agreed. That and "you need love". Not "all you need is love", but you need love. I grew up in a not-very functioning family, and always thought all the stuff about love was ridiculous. But when you separate love from the hollywoodesque ideal and experience the real thing, the human warmth... Many people probably knew this. It took me 20 years to get to know it, so I suppose that's the biggest lesson I got

1) Beware of absolutes.
2) What you hate and love in others you have in yourself.
3) Now is the only time we have.
4) To grow, observe what you react strongly to.
5) You are not your parents. Or anyone else.
6) A Divine Force exists, after all.
7) Prepare to be surprised.
8) You know more than you realize. And less.
9) Maturity brings openness to what is possible.
10) Stay out of the middle of other people's conflicts.
11) Patience means accepting the present.
12) Try loving your enemies. At the very least, it will confound them. Try to have no enemies.
13) Anyone can learn almost anything if they want to. Including math.
14) Only keep items that bring you pleasure when you see them (or you have to retain for other reasons).
15) Everything is energy.
16) Be able to admit what you don't know.

Looks like you've given this subject some thoughts...

But now the question that begs to be asked is, "Do you heed those lessons...???"

Smile My motto

Live in the NOW!

Can't do anything about the past and why project your fears into the future.

I have spent my whole life being afraid. I grew up with an extremely cruel mother, who tied me under the bed, beat me every day, wouldn't let me talk to other members of the family and humilated me as much as she could in front of others.

You would think that would've made me strong, but it has taken me into my 50s to live in the NOW. When I feel sick to my stomach or fearful of something, I just remember Eckart Tolle and live in the NOW. Is anything threatening you NOW.

So that is how I live my life--Is there anything threatening you NOW at this moment. Live in the present moment.

Sorry to ramble, but it so simple and has brought me so much peace. And it is what gets me through day-to-day.

Artic

Thank you for sharing that artic123...

As you described... sometimes it only take a little key to open the door to a beautiful new world...

What you call "NOW" is also known as "PTC" or "Present Time Consciousness." A beautiful and most effective concept...

Luck is Opportunity Meeting Preparation
You have to be good to be lucky, lucky to be good
every mistake you make is a seed to something larger
health, love and $ are what makes the world go round and worth living. IN THAT ORDER.

Never ever say never.
To play and fail is 100% better than to watch and comment.
The fun is in the process not the end result
You will never be given a task you can't accomplish. Life only gives tasks to those who can accomplish them; even if you think you can't!

If you think you can or you can't.. YOU'RE RIGHT - Ford.

Why do things tomorrow that you can do today?

And finally you get 1 shot at life. If you have to look back on your life like chapters in a book; as the author why don't you minimize the sad chapters and expand the happy ones? Also when you are done your life lying on your deathbed the "conclusion" you want to feel you did your best and the only moment you have to do that is now. Not tomorrow, not next week not last year. Just now.

Default Quitting

Why quit? Quitting is too easy. You can quit at any time. When you quit its all over. So as long as theres even a glimmer of light, its better to go on rather than to quit.

I have learned to hold my head up with the grace of a woman
and not the grief of a child. I have learned poise.

I know that i'm garanteed to love again and most likely garanteed to break my heart again.
I have learned to not let sorrow linger, yet love it as a growing process.

I have learned the understanding of conscious love.
As we love people how they need to be loved and not how we need to be loved.

i have learned a friend understands your laughter,
and a great friend understands your silence.

I have learned to speak blessings over my children,
if i don't tell them who they are, some one else will.
speak blessings over your children, they are so beautiful,
they are our legacy.

i have learned so much and am looking forward to each days experiences,
cause when i get up in the morning i think i just know it! something exciting is gonna happen.
I live with great expectation and anticipation for groovey things to happen.

I am so grateful to be a trusted steward of blessings.
for all i have recieved and all that is yet to come.
i am so very greatful for my healing.
physically, mentally, spiritually, intellectually.

I like that one. One thing I've learned while working is that anticipating the end of the day makes it harder to get through, because I'm not focused on working. I like to remind myself of these things:

1. There is no 'break'.
2. There is no 'end of the day'
3. There certainly is no 'weekend'.
4. You aren't working hard enough!

I learned this when I was very young because I grew up in a racially diverse neighborhood.

Do not think of others as inferior just because they're behaviors or actions are different from the Western culture, or different from yours in general.

Sadly not a lot of people think this way.

Life always gives you lessons that you are ready for (which you realize look back on them).

Everything... Will be okay, in the end.

Life is a progression. Ride the wave or fall under water... New waves will come along, but why fight it the first time?

Learn from *everything* in your life!

There is no standing still. There are only different kinds of movement...
