Default How to wake up at your intended time?

I can never wake up at my intended time. I sleep at 2:00 AM after completing web designs and drafts for my clients. I want to wake up at 9:00 PM every morning but I can never wake up on my own.

I need help and advices.

Erh, get 10 alarm clocks, with no Snooze function and placed at every corner of your room? Set the clocks to go off within 2 minutes apart of each other. By the time you get to the 5th, you should be alert enough. Or irritated? haha

Try sleeping untill 9:30 instead of 9 am. Since each sleep cycle is roughly 90 minutes so if you use multiples of 90 minutes its easier to wake up.

Also there's a blog post from steve where he explains how he gets up in the morning, his method is a great way to wake up.
I don't know what the title wasm perhaps somebody else can help out?

This article is one of Steve's best and it works. To sum it up, basically try practicing waking up to the alarm clock during the day. Condition your mind to wake up by the sound of the alarm during the day. And you'll find in the morning when the alarm clock goes off, you'll wake up without a problem.
I did this to get myself into the habit of waking up to the sound of the alarm clock as well. I would lie down in bed with all lights off, during the day, and once the alarm goes off I'd get up, go to the bathroom and wash my face. And I did that 5-10 times in a row for several days and then it became a habit. No matter how little sleep I had, as soon as the alarm went off in the morning, I would get up right away and into the bathroom and wash my face.

I have noticed that when I get lots of direct sunlight on my skin and in my eyes during the day, it is much easier for me to go to sleep at night.

Thats the one I meant, this article is right on the money. I worked for 2 years as a news paper boy and was 'forced' to get up at 5 am every morning 7 days a week. Back than I was so tuned in to my alarm clock that I could set it barely hearable and I'd still wake up instantly.
Because of that I never have any problems waking up if I decide to in the evening, if I think 'I'll see when I wake up' I will inevitably hit the snooze button several times.

Looking back I recognize some of the things he's talking about in my own waking up routine. For me its completely ingrained at this point and easy to get in and out of the habit of immediatley getting up. For instance the past 3 months I have been on pretty much free running sleep (while making sure I don't wake up TO late), but a few days ago I switched to a biphasic sleeping pattern and I wake up pretty much instantly.

Do EFT tapping before sleep > Waking Up - Tapping.com

And listen to pzizz when you are in bed and ready to sleep. > pzizz - Treat sleep problems and increase energy

I use an alarm clock to wake me up. A few things that helps me. Exercise, eating healthy, getting the recommend amount of sleep that suits my needs and having a daily routine.

I have my cell phone set to wake me up. This works (it uses a combination of vibrate, sound and light to wake me up) but it takes forever to get out of the bed so I just place it where I cant stop it from my bed - this means that I get out bed pretty much the moment it starts.

What I really think helps though is that I started to get up at the same time everyday (6am)*. As an added bonus, I can now remember my dreams for the first time in years.



*This works most of the time but not always.

I would also recommend an alarm clock. Don't set the volume too loudy, that kind of jolt is not too much fun to wake up to, but set it loud enough to wake you. And keep it where you'd have to get up to shut it off.

That's the great thing about my mobile phone's alarm clock, the volume of the alarm gradually increases to full volume (which can be set high or low), it doesn't just start blaring. And of course, I can easily put it anywhere in the room.

Lightbulb Using laptop/pc and Winamp as alarm clock (10 steps!)

I am a recovering snooze-aholic (one day at a time..).

Recently I discovered a way to use my (Windows XP) laptop as an alarm clock. I really like it this way because I can listen to exactly what I want to hear in the morning. Usually I set it to 15 minutes before I actually have to get up so I can liste to some music or an audiobook and then get out of bed. Also, no snoozing...
  1. Create a user with password for your Windows (skip this if you already use a password)
  2. Make a Winamp playlist that you want to wakeup with (or use another program that you use to play music). I prefer soft music in the beginning and then an audiobook or podcast. Save the playlist and remember where you put it.
  3. Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks>Add Scheduled Task.
  4. Browse to point the program to your playlist (.m3u or .pls file).
  5. Set the name for the Scheduled Task
  6. Schedule the task (for testing set it 5 minutes from now)
  7. Fill in the username and password
  8. Then copy these settings



  9. Now check the volume of your player, you don't want it too loud or too soft.
  10. Then put your computer in Standby Mode, Start>Turn Off>Standby
  11. Your computer will start playing the playlist at the selected time.


If your computer is turned off this won't work.
If you want to listen to something else in the morning, change the playlist. You can also add webradio stations, CD's, or just throw everything in there, turn on shuffle and hope that Coldplay instead of Slipknot wakes you

Once my alarm clock goes off, I quickly push the sheets off of me. After that, I literally roll out of bed (make sure there is no dangerous objects where you can seriously hurt yourself). Once I'm on the floor, I get up and presto I'm standing up and make my way to the bathroom, etc.

If I need an alarm to get up at NINE...I would be screwed. I automatically open up my eyes at 5:30 AM everyday. I go to sleep around 2 AM....so I get up around 6 AM. Yeah....I only get 4 hours of sleep a night. I am slowly losing my mind, college has done me in.
