Default Easier when told what to do.

I just had a realization that I tend to be happier at work than at home sometimes, the reason being is work is simple.

I have a time i need to show up and a job that I need to do, everything is defined and it's like, this is what we are paying you to do, go do it. So I do. I don't really think or worry about anything to much.

I seem to get really stuck when the world is more open ended and I have to decide what to do. It's easier for myself when I am simply told what to do, then I don't need to worry about anything or figure out what is best etc, I simply need to go do my job and then that's it. Simple.

When I am at home, I think about everything, get stuck and often get very upset/depressed. I suck at making choices and then sometimes it just goes down hill from there.

I can understand that. I had a ruck with the missus yesterday and didn't want to be around her. When the alarm went off to go to work, I was actually glad to be leaving.

Normally it's the other way round

We did the make up make up, never ever break up- thing. Little fingers an' everything

But seriously, wanting to be at work is not cool.

Yea. My job is nothing too bad, I like it cause it pays the bills and gives me my life and a bit of freedom, but seriously if i'm happier to be there, there is a problem. I need to get my shizz together somehow.

There is something to be said for having a 'constant' in your life. I like change as much as the next guy, but it can be quite unsettling at times. As long as one or two things are constant, then change seems less threatening and more manageable.

My job is easy too. When I'm tired or in a bad mood, I can just do it very easily. My work day is relatively short too.

The flip side is that being so unfulfilling makes it boring and I find myself having lots of 'where's my life gone' thoughts.

Er, I just realised, I'm probably not helping with these sorts of comments Sorry mate, someone sensible will be along soon, I'm sure

Is that what you want from life? To be told what to do the whole time?

If it is then you can stop reading now

But I say, why? You only get one life, is there really nothing you want to do with it? Are you prepared just to do what you are told to do the whole time? If nothing else, set yourself goals, then tell yourself to do them. It can't be hard to set yourself a few goals, in fact, I am telling you now to set yourself some goals!
