There are a lot of things I need to get done, and I've needed to get them done for quite some time now. But like so many people, I put them off, and then work myself into an anxious frenzy as the deadlines approach. I have used paraliminals in the past with a good degree of success. (I had bootlegs of Get Around To It and Instantaneous Personal Magnetism, and they worked so well I bought the whole set. I'm currently engaged to the woman I used Creating Sparks with. YMMV.) So today I am going to try "Automatic Pilot" as a way of seeing if I can get some of the things done I need to do. My ultimate goals are "Get My House Clean and Organized" and "Get Into Pharmacy School". I want to see if "Ultimate Pilot" can help me get these things done. I am using the webpage Now Do This ( NowDoThis ) as my to-do list. Here Is what I want to get done: wash load of clothes call car repair place pay phone bill empty/fill run diswasher call college registration system about letters of reference fold towels, other clean clothes carry out trash dry clothes Email advisor for a reference empty litterbox make bed Shave Go get coupon from my dad/Go to work [these things will be done at around 4:30] It's a lot of little things that can easily be done in 2-3 hours. Spending a bunch of time worrying about it doesn't help. Nothing on that list is worth freaking out about. It is now 12:45 Central time. I have to be to work at 5 o'clock, in about 4 hours. I am going to put my clothes in the wash, and then listen to "Side A" of the CD. I may also listen to Side B later, if I feel the need. Let's see how this works. I'll check in at the end of the day (after work) and let you all know how everything worked, especially with regard to the paraliminal. -M (My fiancee gets off work at 3:30. If she comes over, it may throw things off.) |

As of 3:30pm, I have completed everything on my list except "See my dad/go to work." We will call this a success. I believe the paraliminal was helpful. After work tonight I will write a few thoughts about how this paraliminal helped, and how it compares to other ones I've used. -M |

My main purpose here was to test the "Automatic Pilot" (AP) paraliminal vs. other paraliminals which I have used to try to overcome procrastination and anxiety, especially the "Get Around To It" (GATI) CD which I have used in the past. Although I have had pretty good results with other paraliminals, GETI has been a mixed bag. Last year I was able to use it to overcome mental blocks to finish 1 specific small task, specifically calling my student loan company. I had been putting it off since I was behind on payments, but after using the CD for 2 days in a row, I was able to jump right up and make the call, as soon as the session ended (This would have been Side A). The following day, I still had the presence of mind to finish another task (I forget what, probably calling about a bill) immediately as it came to mind. This is the overall kind of change I want to make in my life: not putting off unpleasant tasks, just like the intro to the session says. I want to do them as I think of them or as I have scheduled them, and not spend 7 hours a day checking my blogs instead of working. But for larger or longer tasks, GATI hasn't always worked. In this case I am thinking about filing my incredibly disorganized stack of papers. I would listen to it, but I would be able to go right on procrastinating. The one time it was successful, I had listened for 2 days in a row, I think. But nevertheless, as of this writing the papers remain unsorted. So, with regards to yesterday's to-do list, many of the items were routine, day-to-day things that I just don't get done because I'm lazy. When I do get the urge to clean, empty/run dishwasher is almost always the first thing I do, because it is easy. Carrying out garbage is, likewise, a routine task. But folding laundry has a mental block, as does emptying the litter box. Shaving is something I just prefer not to do, but taking care of my physical appearance makes such a difference. The pharmacy school letters, especially the request to my reference, are so important to my future that I make myself nervous just thinking about them. I've been worrying about that stuff for more than a month. So I was very happy with how AP worked yesterday. I didn't follow the list of items exactly in order, and I did click over to Facebook and Twitter a couple of times, but the work got done. It wasn't automatic, exactly, but it wasn't bad. The anxious talk in the back of my mind was mostly gone, and I think that helped more than anything. I did not listen to Side B, although I likely will draw up another list of items tomorrow and see how that one works. I am hopeful that Automatic Pilot will continue to work positive changes. -M Typed while waiting for my car to get fixed. |

I have recently purchased the ultimate you set of paraliminals, but I haven't given Get Around to it a go yet. I had been using Automatic Pilot and New Behaviour Generator to make a commitment to a significant goal that I hadn't yet been able to commit to. I was listening to Automatic Pilot A each day for weeks, with no success. I was getting short term commitment to my goal, but nothing longer than 48 hours. Then I had a mini-epiphany. I consciously realised that I was afraid of the hard work that my goal entails to reach it. I think I had been aware for the last two weeks that I would have to work hard, but I didn't really say to myself that I was scared of the hard work that I would have to do. I just wanted the magic pill. Once I admitted to myself that I was scared of the hard work, I experienced a more intense "buzz" when thinking about my goal, and listening to Automatic Pilot A. From there, as of last Tuesday, I started making opportunities, and taking them in order to advance my path towards my goal. I had a wonderful visualisation (and I don't usually visualise well - I concentrate more on feelings) of running down the channel or path to my goal, effortlessly and bypassing many people/obstacles along the way with ease. I now have the affirmation "whatever it takes" echoing in my head as I work towards my goal. Anyway, I wonder if this will compare with your experience. I hope that Automatic Pilot continues to work for you as well as me! All the best |
