Default How long would it take you to memorize / learn

20 pages of information for an exam with about 130 word of notes on each (bullet pointed notes)

I have an understanding of the materials it is now just a case of committing it to memory.

I use little questions and answers to manipulate the information and make it an active form of learning.

I have my little system and it works for me so don't want to alter that.

I am just curious how long it would take people to learn a similar amount and how many pages / groups of 20 they could do it a day/

many thanks

If there are only 130 words per page, then that is like what, around 25 bullet points per page or something? Or less?

Let's just go with 25 bullet points, times 20 pages, equals 500 "facts" that you have to memorize.

A pmemory graduate could memorize 500 facts in a day, easy! Well, it might take 2-3 depending on how much mental stamina you have.

However, I am just stating a fact here. This is like saying "a bodybuilder can lift 100 pounds, easy!" It still takes several months to actually train your mind with the pmemory course and finish the course.

Btw, I am not a graduate of the course. I finished a few lessons and then stopped because it was insanely hard. I do plan to finish it... but right now I have more important things to handle.

Thank you for your reply Having had a look again there are prob no more than 15 "facts" per page With the bullet points being long winded explanation of the points! If that makes sense

Depends on the type of information. I often find that courses can be split into major concepts. The facts fall under the umbrella of that major concept and I learn it as a whole. Then I move onto the next one.
I had one crazy course where on the exam, I had to identify thirty landscape trees based on a description and a picture. Thirty trees isn't a big deal to ID but we basically had to memorize the characteristics of 130 trees. That's a monstrous task.
Most people failed this section. Many of those people who failed had rewrote that section several times and had failed each time. Here's how I passed it effortlessly on the first try.

Split it into trees, vines and shrubs. There were only four vines to memorize, about forty trees and the rest shrubs. I divided confiers (pine trees and such) from the trees.

Then I split them by opposite and alternate bud placement. This divided the trees down to about 10 opposite, 12 alternate. Shrubs were something like 18 opposite, 30 alternate.

From there, I wrote a story for each. Each sentence of the story would tip me off to a specific characteristic of a certain tree/shrub. The result? The exam was easy.

This took about two hours, by the way. From there, I recorded it into my computer and burnt it on a CD. I also had it on my MP3 player. Whenever I needed a refresher of the story, I listened to it. Something I would normally spend days studying was compacted into a one minute story.

Dang, that's clever. Way to combine a bunch of learning methods into one ubertechnique.
