I'm currently in my final year a university and really struggling with the work load. When I started my accounting degree initially, I thought that the course would be right for me and I would be able to handle the workload because I'm interested in the topic. A year into the degree and I realised I wasn't at all interested in the degree course either because I found it difficult to motivate myself because of lack of interest or I just wasn't coping with the workload and putting enough hours of studying in, therefore my interest vanished. But I persisted for another two years (I can't stand the thought of giving something up that I've committed too). And here I am about to in to my second semester of my final year and I've just done really badly in my autumn semester modules because again, I couldn't motivate myself to put enough work in because I really dislike what I'm learning and my degree result up to now hasn't been great. If I don't work hard in these last few months I'm not going to do very well. I just need some tips on how to motivate myself to do something I really dislike, and stop procrastinating all the time. I know I have the ability to pull my degree around if I put the work in but I just don't know how. Please help! Charlotte. x |

Well first off, it is a mistake not to quit something because you have committed to it. If you don't like it then you should really get out. But if you are sure you want to finish and the degree is worth your time, then you might as well stick out the last few months. You really need to find some reasons why you should work. Without reasons you will have no motivation and without motivation you won't be able to accomplish your goals. Finally I'll reccommend another website where you can find more information on studying and motivation strategies: Study Hacks |

If I were you I would use "most benevolent outcomes (MBO's)" for help with school. I wish I had known about this method when I went to school....things would have been so much eaiser! It's basically a method of asking your guardian angel for help with anything and everything... and it really works. Check out this thread: The Gentle Way: requesting most benevolent outcomes |
