| How about taking driving lessons?

| I also learned to drive in my 20's and I took driving lessons, you know, where you're in a car with dual steering wheels and brakes and the instructor can easily take control of the car if need be-- you can find instructors or driving schools listed in the yellow pages (I'm assuming you're in the US). In my case though I only drove for about a year and a half and then I moved to a city where I didn't need a car and didn't drive for nearly 10 years-- now I still have my driver's license but I think I'm going to take a few lessons again to get back into the groove. |

| I was in my late 20's before I learned to drive. When I finally learned, it was the 'sink or swim' aproach. I bought a car, and had a friend take me out to an empty parking lot to learn. The car was a stick shift, but I only stalled once before I got the hang of the clutch. After that, I did a few loops of the parking lot and practiced parking a few times. After a few days of puttering about the lot, I went with a commercial driving instruction company to get used to driving in traffic. The test was a breeze because it was in an automatic, so I didn't have to concentrate on shifting. If you do have problems, the trick is to 'get back on the horse' and try again. |

| I am almost 26 and have never had a desire to drive. I think though that I might have my bf teach me anyway and get my license, in case of emergency. Someone mentioned that to me once and sitting here now I can't think of a situation where a taxi or ambulance wouldn't work if my bf wasn't home. I am also thinking ahead to when we have kids. That might be the time when me driving would be especially important.
