| Hi Everyone, I hope someone out there has the answers I need about Affirmations and Visualization. I am being told the reason my wishes don't become reality, manifest is because I am not doing this correctly. What is the "Proper" way or "Certain way" to word affirmations to get them into the subconscious so they resonate with what I am trying to manifest? AND! Is there a proper way to visualize what I want to make it more than a dream? Any answers would be most appreciated! Love and Peace, |

There are "best" ways to word your affirmations, but it seems so many people use variations. I would recommend you keep it simple. Use what Brian Tracy refers to as the "Three P Formula," or, Personal - Positive - Present Tense. I would add another "P" to that formula: Passionate! Personal: Start the statement with the word, "I." Positive: Only focus on what you do want, not what you don't want. Present Tense: Self-explanitory Passionate: Always feel the positive emotions that go along with the attainment of the goal or affirmation. Feel it as though it has already manifested. For visualization, always see the END RESULT! Don't visualize taking the steps to get there. Always see it as already here. You are sitting in the car, talking to the soul-mate, looking in the mirror at your transformed physique, etc. Always visualize upon waking, and just before bed. Put the goals you want to visualize on 3X5 cards, and go one by one and visualize through them. Sometimes, I will mix them together. For example, right now, I have a goal of having a large apartment in Tokyo, and also finishing my new book by a certain date. I might visualize typing the words, "THE END," in the manuscript while I am sitting in that apartment. Be creative. Another way to help cement these goals into your subconscious is to hold the goal up against two questions: How Much, and By When? When you write your goals, make sure they answer these questions. For example, don't do this: I want to lose twenty pounds. What a stinker. Who farted, right? Here is a better way: I weigh 175lbs at 8% bodyfat on July 31st, 2007. This is better because you are focusing no the end result (175 @ 8%) and not what you don't want (lose 20 lbs). Also, we removed the ugly word "want" from the sentence. If you want it, it is always somewhere else and not here. Don't want it; have it! Or you could experiment with the wording a bit more. I am so happy now that I weigh 175 lbs @ 8% bodyfat on July 31st.... or I succeeded in achieving my goal of weighing 175 etc., etc. There are endless ways to phrase it. Keep it personal and passionate! Always feel that feeling, and you'll surprise yourself with the results. I hope this was helpful for you. I am currently listing goals on my website, The Rule of 5. I have ten goals I am going after for 2007. I just went through this process of changing the wording of my goals. Still doing it, actually. I talk about that a bit on the post for Goal #1. Good luck, and let us know how it goes for you. The people here are wonderfully supportive, so you won't be alone for long. Takuin

Thanks for that. I am still kind of new to expressing myself online, and it is not that I have some interest in being liked, or even agreed with, but I am glad there are so many supportive people out there. Anyone else have something to add here?

And I'm going to add something else in regards to affirmations and visualizations. I'm a Law of Attraction Coach and for the last 18 years I've used a tool called the LifeVision that is VERY VERY beneficial in obtaining goals. It combines the above (what Takuin was talking about....written in the positive, first person, present tense, with specifics and action etc) and then takes it to a new level by combining it with Baroque or super learning music which takes it to the sub-conscious. I have an 8 page (single spaced ) LifeVision of my own that I've recorded (all areas of life such as financial, physical spiritual etc) and I listen to it everyday. Sometimes I actually hear the words because I'm very focused on it...other times I'm day dreaming so I just hope to heck that it's going to the subconscious. The main benefit I have received is that I'm very focused on my goals because they are in my face everyday (from listening to my LifeVision). They are very specific "affirmations" about ME! They include actions, by when, the HOWS, the motives and are very clear. The "listening" part creates the "visualization" in my mind and of course by listening daily, it's a prominent part of my thoughts. Anyways, it's a great thing! Things I've accomplished in the last year because of my LifeVision: 1) combined income with my husband of $425,000 (visualized $450,000 but we're not that disappointed 2) went to Africa on a 3 week humanitarian trip (and safari). I visualized helping people change their life and what actually happened was I was able to help 4 women set up a sewing business that in 10 days time had turned about their lives by moving them from poverty class to middle class. They had purchased 3 sewing machines and gotten order from 3 schools for uniforms. The experience was even more than I had visualized! 3) participated in 2 triathlons (visualized 3 but ended up with a stress facture in my leg for the 3rd one and opted out) I had good times and was pleased with my results for the most part. 4) Wrote a book that had been in my LifeVision for about 3 years. It finally came to fuition and I was pleased with the accomplishment. It only took 60 days and completely "flowed" because of how I had visualized it for so long. 5) Got my website off the ground and learned about internet marketing which I knew absolutely NOTHING about previoiusly. 6) Had 10+ opportunities of public speaking (keynotes)which 2 years ago would have absolutely killed me (panic & fear) 7) Studied the entire Bible (particularly the New Testament ) and learned what I was suppose to from that. 8) drastically...and I mean DRASTICALLY improved my relationship with my husband. anyways.

Follow what Taukin has said about the 4P's. But the main reason why affirmations dont work is because you dont beleive what you say. Eg: "I now weigh 175 pounds with 8% boday fat". What do you feel inside after this affirmation. Do you truly beleive that you will accomplish your goal? Is there a voice inside you that tells you that "no you cant do that"? No matter how precise your wording is and how much energy or passion you put into it, if you core beleifs contrast, then affirmations will not help. Ask yourself why you feel so. Write it down. Ask yourself again why you feel what you just wrote down and continue with the process. Do an honest introspection and go all the way to finding the root/cause. Then work on replacing it. Creating new beleifs and replacing the existing negative ones can be hard but worth it. Then once you put out an intention, you will know inside you that it will happen. It has to happen. You wont be denied. Hope that makes sense. Just my 2 cents... |

| I have done a lot of thinking on this topic. And I have tried many ways to visualize my wishes come true. Some of the challenges I have run into are: 1. Can't think of what I *really* want. 2. I am visualizing something that I feel I *should* accomplish instead of something I *want* to accomplish. 3. I am trying to visualize a tangible measurable outcome but I am a kinesthetic experiencer of life. 4. I am resistant to getting what I want for a number of reasons (fear, doubt, having to take responsibility, etc...) What works for me: 1. Visualizing how I want to feel instead of what the tangible results look like. 2. Examining resistence to getting what I want and allowing it to be even though I am not going to choose to use it as a reason to stop moving forward. 3. Picking specific elements to signal me when I am on track. I always pick one irrelevant element to signal me that it was indeed my manifesting that created the thing coming forth in the outside world. 4. Being detached from the result. This really sucks, but really one needs to be in the experience of the thing complete in order for it to happen. And example: notice how when you are looking for a special love interest, there is no one around and then when you are "in love" all of a sudden everyone starts coming on to you? If you are looking for a mate it is advisable to already be in love with them even though you have yet to meet them! Hope this is helpful! | As a sidenote you might consider posting a different headline in the future. Normally when somebody starts off anything with "I want..." I instantly skip over that thread. It just sounds slight selfish - almost like the people here owe you something.

| Some great posts here. I just wanted to add one more thing. LOA didn't start really "working" for me until I realized that it's not something that you "apply" to your desires. It's a 24/7 thing. It truly is. When I finally realized that it's all about how I'm feeling, ALL the time, my visualizations took off, so to speak. These days, I love my life. I love my life and yes, there are always things that I desire. There will always be things that I desire, and getting from here to there is actually the delightful part of the journey. My mantra is, I love where I am, and I'm eager to experience all the things that I desire. Add that to any of the abundance processes that appeal to you, and it really will all fall into place.

| Jobby Jobby - so glad you asked the question. I have learned more from this thread than from anything else on this site for the 4 or 6 weeks I've been registered. These posts are meaty and give me something that I can really sink my teeth into. I am not young and am coming out of a period of great loss - my spouse, my non-profit business, devastating financial losses, a house almost destroyed by mold and no money to restore it with, not to mention severe depression and other psychological issues. I have made significant foundational changes in the past 9 months and am ready to tackle the messes in my life and move on to a productive and rewarding life. I am using this site to help keep me focused and moving forward. This thread in particular has the information I have been looking for. I believed I would find it and I kept looking. |

| jobby means bowel motion in irish/scottish slang. I have nothing useful to add, I just thought that was amusing to the child in me.

| I just wanted to comment on the whole notion of selfishness and "I want." I love that we get to want stuff and I love that most of us have issues with feeling deserving of things. We *are* selfish. Human nature. And I am sick of thinking of it as a bad thing. When we help someone it is because we want to feel good about ourselves, and this is great! We don't help someone because we have no emotional satisfaction from it. We make it mean that we are worthy because we have made a contribution. Of course, we were born worthy and do not have to jump through hoops to get to worthy. When we help others, we are helping them get what they want and we are not accusing them of being selfish. In short, it is OK to want. It is OK to wish for. Don't squash your fleshy self-centered desires or they will run you. One caution, you can get a lot more (not a lot less) out of life by being committed to ever growing your insight as far as what makes you tick. I am selfishly devoted to learning who I am and what makes me tick. I am selfishly devoted to others doing the same. Heather Flanagan Catalytic Converter Visualize Possibilities |

On visualisation, here is an account of my personal experience. Hope it works for you. On planting things into your subconscious, you need to go for depth. Just go deep, deep, deep - before you even bother to plant the seed. Another link for you - Deepak Chopra's advice. If you don't have depth, you have to go for frequency and regularity. That means lots of repetition of the same affirmation. I'm not a huge fan of this approach, because I prefer to go deep and plant once, deep in the subconscious, instead of repeating the same thing many, many times at the surface layers of the mind. |

Surprise, surprise - many people can go very far with LOA - without really thinking many positive thoughts. The reason is that many people are already very negative, without realising it. All they have to do is cut down on their negative thoughts - and their circumstances will start to improve sharply. |

I like your blog, I will be a regular visitor. In some ways, it is very similar to mine. We state big big goals and then we systematically track the progress over time. Putting it all down in writing is a great idea because it is like an act of commitment to your own goals. My current goals are here. I also do little summaries every three months or so, to record all the latest successes & achievements. |

You know, I just noticed...we never heard back from jobby jobby regarding all of these responses. It could be that he/she is off implementing all of these good ideas, or more likely, going elsewhere to ask others the same question. I used to do that when I was younger; ask questions that I already knew answers to. But when the answers I already possessed were not validated by the persons I had asked, I'd go ask others. Even though I already knew the answer. (our questions rise from the answers we already have) I'm not saying that is the case here; just thinking, you know?
