I finally have my travel plans worked out to go see my family and meet my new nephew for the first time. I so severely need this end of the year break to relax, get some of Mom's home cooking and maybe even see some snow. I realized today that I have a sheep load of things to be done before that trip and I am going to need a laser focus to get it done. So I need to take a temporary break from this forum. After today, I'm off the board until early January. Sorry if I'm dropping out of any in-progress conversations, but I'll be back soon enough and we can pick it up again then. I'll still be on facebook, for any of you who are connected to me there and would like to chat. So, Merry Christmas, whoever you are and where ever you are. I will leave you with this enduring Christmas wish that I think transcends culture, race, and religion: Peace on Earth and Goodwill Toward Men (and women ![]() I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old, familiar carols play, And wild and sweet The words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along The unbroken song Of peace on earth, good-will to men! Till ringing, singing on its way, The world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime, A chant sublime Of peace on earth, good-will to men! Then from each black, accursed mouth The cannon thundered in the South, And with the sound The carols drowned Of peace on earth, good-will to men! It was as if an earthquake rent The hearth-stones of a continent, And made forlorn The households born Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said; “For hate is strong, And mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!” Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1864) |

I will be stepping away from the forum shortly. I wish to bring my membership stint here in for a smooth landing, and quietly, one day, just not be here. I so appreciate many of the people here. LostMyMap is certainly a treasure. He asked me to please give some sort of notice, and I thought this thread was the most appropriate place to announce this. My intention is to concentrate on a smaller website I'm pioneering, and I will probably live my last internet days there. Please don't ask where the website is: if I wanted 36,000 Pavlina people there, I might just as well stay here. And "here" is way too competitive for a quiet 'home'. It can get like Wal-Mart during the last two days of Christmas shopping. Pavlina forum members are assured that a PM from this site sends an e-mail notification to me, so I'm not far away from you. Ever. Specific thanks and true appreciation for rei, Andrew gubb, Lakshi, SpaceCadetGlow, Wax Frog, and many others who dare to be open and at ease with themselves. They have a tendency to provide keen insight, and are the most valuable asset of this forum. It's no wonder people gavitate to them. I could mention many others, but this is LMM's thread. In losing his way, and flailing upon the cyber waters, LostMyMap has actually been a beacon to many...myself included...by having the courage to bare his story, and work with it daily for all to see. In a way, he gave us all permission to grow with him on a very difficult life sojourn. And he's coming out at 39,000 feet with good horizontal stability. It's funny how we all agonise, but those observing us knew all along we'd do terrific. Love will always prevail. YouTube - ABBA "Chiquitita" The sun is still shining above you. An ABBA song. Hmm. Far as I'm concerned, you can list out the other people if you want, go for it. I fear that if you really leave, the Fun sub forum is just not going to be the same. I can't carry that torch, altough others like Roxy, Mounds etc will continue their fine work. Alright, look, if you leave, we need Daffy back. You both can't be gone at the same time. When you do take your leave from here, fair winds and following seas! |

Glad to see you back. The pressures I endure daily are often so successfully dismissed when I rip it up down there in Fun and Rec...I'll be around. Yeah, ABBA. I've been Bjorn Again. It's 10 dgrees here. I bet surfers are still sitting on boards out there in San Diego. Green grass and high tides forever. |

Hey man, I saw the Outlaws in concert a couple years ago. With Marshall Tucker (looked pretty used and abused) and Charlie Daniels (incredible shape). | |
