| I don't know if I'm setting my standards too high and so can't achieve them, or if I'm just too lazy/unmotivated to get on with things, but either way I feel like a 3. |

| Overall? About a 3, up from a 1 a year ago.

| This question is too relative to circumstance and experience. What I view as an 6 now may only be a 3 in five years time, if my life has improved to a dramatic extent -- or it may be a 10 if things go badly wrong. For example, as a 20 year old with a full-time job, my financial situation may be worth a 7/10 at the moment, but if I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd probably look back on today's financial situation as a pretty pathetic 1/10 by comparison. Similarly, if I went bankrupt tomorrow, I'd probably see today's financial situation as a 9 or a 10. Thus, I can't really answer the question |

| Let's say I'm a 5, in terms of my employment, and I want to improve. Seth Godin argues that for a company (different from a person, I know) to go from that 5 to a 10, they have to first dip down to a two or a three! Kind of scary, I know. This would be the equivalent of changing jobs for me, facing the great unknown, getting out of my comfort zone in order to try something different. But it could transform my work life from a 5 to a 10. But if I just keep pushing to make small improvements at my current job, I can only get to a 6 or maybe a 7. In order to find the perfect job for me and get to a 9 or a 10, I have to quit my current job and start over in a scary new situation--which will feel like a 2 or a 3 for awhile. I know that's all over the place but hopefully you get the drift.....

| skinnyninja- when you put it that way, I don't feel so discouraged about being around a 3....Sure, I could go out and get a "real" job and be at about a 6 or 7 within a month or two. But it wouldn't be on the right path. Do I understand this correctly? Thank you, SN. |

| I am an 8. Because I own everything in my head. To make a 9 and 10 I need to own it in the physical.

| I'm out of my comfort zone big time, and wading through a new position with little to no training, so that part is a (1). I've inhereted 1/3 of 136 acer ranch, so that part is a (10). The will is in probate, and the other 2 inheretors manifested a medicaid recovery lein on the property of $11,000, and they want to have the land surveyed, divided, and want each of us to go get a loan for 1/3 of the $11,000 to pay this off, and I am in no situation to take on another loan, so that part is a (1). (Dad had wanted to spend the last 6 months of his life, here at home on the ranch, but the others thought it best he die in a nursing home. They had POA, and medical power of attorney, so the decision was out of my hands. Then, after Dad died, the medicaid recovery program decided Dad didn't qualify for the aid he was receiving those last 6 months, and they want the money paid back.) I've paid off many debts this year, so that part is a (10). I'm behind on my other debts, and paychecks have been small, so that part is a (1). Have made many adjustments in the budget freeing up some of my income, so that part is a (10). These budget adjustments, although helpful, will not really show up a difference until it plays itself out for another month, so that part is a (1). I have about 100 head of goats I can seel to help catch up with my back debt payments, so that is a (10), but money may have to go for paying 1/3 the cost to have the surveying on property done, so that is a (1). When the property is divided, the sections that the other 2 inheretors has a well, and houses on it, and the section I'll get has no house and no well on it, so I'll have to put out lots of money to have a well dug, and have a house built, otherwise, I'll have no place to live out here, as I'm presently living in the house that one of the others will get on their section of land, and they may not let me stay here, so I'll have to quit my job, and move back to the other town, and find a new job, so that part is a (1). |

| I think its useful to define what we're supposed to be evaluating about ourselves before we put a range on the concept. Some people seem to be rating their level of self-esteem, self-image or level of self-confidence, where other people may be analyzing levels of self-awareness, productiveity, specific 'meaningful' qualities and self-acceptance. Some people will give themselves different ratings for every effort they exert, every asepct of themselves they perceive. |

| I'm a solid 8 with clear vision of how to get to the 10. I think once you reach the level of comfortably tackling most of your daily challenges, it gets easier to stay on top of things. By the time you get to anything above 6, most of your approaches are optimized enough to serve their purposes in a most effective way, so what's left is to think bigger picture to take your life in a direction you really like.
