Default Wage Slaveless Club

I joined the job quitters club a long time ago. I have since worked at two places I love, one as a writer at an international women and LGBT development agency and one as a booking agent at a travel agency. Unfortunately those were both temporary otherwise I would have loved to stay at the writing place.

I joined that club because I promised myself I wouldn't be a wage slave and work at a job that I hate. There are free spirit issues and also discrimination issues because some jobs don't hire queers.

Now I'm looking for something more offbeat like at a nonprofit until I find my place in the sun as a therapist or getting a PhD in Sexualities.

I wanted to start a mini-support group since this is the place to bear all.

So far no one has bitten. Today I just looked for a job at an offbeat place. It was tough but I feel productive yet free. I'm glad I didn't get some 9-6 M-F on Capitol Hill so that I could go around telling people I work there and be wearing business cas' when I'd rather where clothes that have more panache.

I am not one to look for a job, because I cannot stand working for someone else and not having the freedom to decide what I want to do.

That said however, I also don't believe that getting a job is being a "slave wage". It is all in your intention and your mind set.

Nothing wrong with getting a job and nothing wrong with being self employed. The world needs both flavors
