Deathly afraid to suck

I obviously have been wanting to be in the sex industry for a while now.

I look at the porn stars and strippers and they have perfect bodies.

Compared to them my body is a wreck. I'm also not as charismatic as they are.

That's why I keep bouncing around with the fallbacks like therapist or writer or something.

I think this is very unfair because I either have to be superb or I have to be a hole in the wall. Then when I tell people I'm in the sex industry they may think I'm low budget and seedy and ghetto, also because I'm black.

If I looked pornish then they'd think I was hot and good at it.

Again I'm shy too. Also I'm not good with pole tricks.

I don't know where to begin with this. But I have little interest in other careers except maybe therapist who writes on the side.

Amazing. I saw the thread title and thought "Boy I have a dirty mind. This person is afraid of failure and I'm taking it completely the wrong way." But in fact you are talking about pole tricks!

CroMagna, do not go into the sex industry. It's not the place for shy women with self-esteem and body image issues. Become a therapist who writes on the side instead.

I really want to be in this biz because looking back I really enjoyed my brief stint. The reason I want to do it is becauise I feel so disempowered in my daily dealings that I would be able to feel good again.

I suggest you ignore all your *shortcomings* in both physic side & otherwise, just go do it if you truly believe your career is in it.

I don't think even Marilyn Monroe feels herself perfect until everybody else calls her sexy

Be you and express your own charisma, and I hope you can make an awesome job to make some people change their judgemental opinions on your business

I'm gonna go with WarrenG here. If you are having such issues with your body image before you even get work, then they will eat you alive in the strip clubs.

By that I mean you will have trouble projecting the sense that you are sexy if you don't feel it and are constantly comparing yourself to the other dancers there, which means they will get the money, and all you will get is laughed at by the men! Sorry to be harsh but that's the way it is in that world.

If you've been there before you would know that it's a tough world and if you aren't up to scratch with your body and what the men want then you'll be out on your ear, yesterdays news without even making it as todays flavour of the week!

I think I said this to you a while ago...but it fell on deaf ears obviously...work on feeling better about yourself BEFORE you enter into this industry or it will be a huge crush to your already fragile self-image and therefore self-esteem.

I won't say it again though. If you cannot see that this makes sense then you are gonna have to find out the hard way.

btw, have you been to get tested for STD's yet? That will also contribute to how you feel about yourself if you enter into this work.
