Default Any PD value in the writings of L. Ron Hubbard?

I know Scientology is a sect etc etc etc. I am not interested in joining them.

I just wonder if anyone has read any of Hubbard's books and found any PD value in them at all.

Hubbard's motive in writing his books was to gain money and power by founding a religion. Looking at pictures of him gives me a creepy vibe.

However, I don't imagine his work would have become so popular if it didn't contain something that made people feel it was worthwhile, but in my opinion, it contains more useless or harmful elements than it does helpful ones.

IMO not creepy, but like he's in the mafia. My point being he's slimy and dishonest.

What he did was tap into people's fears and desires and use that to create something they thought they wanted but in reality only served him and his interests.

I have read Dianetics and I did not get any PD value from it.

Definitely don't get involved in the organisation because then you will never be able to escape, they will send you mail for the rest of your life.

Years and years and YYYYEEEAAAARS ago I walked a mile in those shoes. I am of the view that he has recieved some bad drafting (as in car racing) and i didn't get much out of it, except this little tid-bit I heard in one of the videos:

we're going to help you so it doesn't hurt any more.

My inner-radar also told me to get the heck outta there, and I did.

ANY situation or sect or whatever has at least one pearl of wisdom. Take the pearl, and move on.

Didn't he just write a bunch of science fiction novels though? it's the people who took his writings seriously that need a reality check!

You could say the same about religion in general.
