Agreed. I'll add that even for the same goal or dream, it can be helpful to use each perspective at different times, depending on what action/thought you're taking toward the goal at the time.

Really Nicely put. In my opinion it is this demonstration of an ability to 'choose' perspective at will that denotes one as being 'awake' within the dream. Becoming conscious of the fact that you actually HAVE a choice of perspective is a huge deal. I find that Making this realization is one thing..the first step really and then....acting upon it and incorporating it is quite another!

As long we remain able to make a choice regarding our viewpoint, it could be said that our inner observer remains active. As long as we are capable of observing the unfolding of the dream from a distance, we cannot become overly-immersed within any drama that may present itself...therefore we always remain 'conscious' and therefore free from attachment and/or suffering.

You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. 'Nuff said.

You also can't not avoid the consequences of not avoiding reality.

That statement is probably more profound than the original person who made it realised herself.

The consequences of avoiding reality are actually the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

That is to say, the consequences of avoiding reality are known as karma.

For everyone's info, the person who originally said it was Ayn Rand.

I've actually never read any of her material, but I did like that quote.
