I would have to say Angela has been most instrumental in me making real change and seeing what that can mean to your life. She's opened up ideas to me that I wasn't able to comprehend before. She's steadfastly challenged and pushed me beyond where I would have gone otherwise. And done it all in a loving and comforting way. I am about to cry.

So, moving on...

As far as someone who by their presence in my life has challenged me, my boyfriend, definitely. He's made me face things I didn't want to merely by existing and being himself. He's brought to the surface the bad that I didn't know was there and made me want to fix it.

Marty Gaines. He made me care about what legacy I leave and other than my parents was most instrumental in setting my moral compass.

I'd have to say my daughter. Despite her disabilities she battles on and smiles. On a PD scale, without her in my life I would not of learnt the lessons she has taught me.

Default just one...

If I had to choose just one, I would have to say that it wasnt a writer but my martial arts teacher. I read dozens and dozens of personal development books, but the missing piece for me was getting in action to make it happen. As the years of training moved by, I saw the flash-in-the-pan types fall by the way side while I continued. Eventually, I "got" it in a big way. It isnt the destination, it is the journey. Tote the water and chop the wood, then do it again the next day and the next and on and on. Once I got that the techniques and skill sets came together and what I read began to make a difference.
I think Steve has it exactly right. Personal Development, Self Improvement is hard. Really hard. Those who tell us that there is a quick and easy route are just looking quick buck.
To go back to the best writer, not having read Steve's book yet, I will have to vote for Covey's work.

regards to everyone...

Wayne
