So many people are crippled by the fear that they can never achieve their goals. They refuse to try because they're so busy saying, "I'd never be successful at it, anyway." I've always like this quote, and so I decided to ask you guys... What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail? If you've never heard this quote before, just to clarify, it's asking: What goal would you go after if it were guaranteed that you wouldn't fail at it? |

I suppose with myself, I have a natural positive energy. I think I can succeed at most things I try, though I have found that I am not naturally adept at doing certain things (like washing dishes and remembering where I put that piece of paper with that piece of information that will let me call this guy I need to call....) Seriously, the more I think about it, the less I really care about the goals. It is the getting there that I really love. I loved the book the Alchemist and have taken my inspiration from that. I have never been fully satisfied with ANY goal I have eventually reached (maybe they have been too easy???), but when I think of making an incredible sacrifice for a goal, I usually end up thinking, "yeah, now what? now it's time to sit back and cruise for the rest of my life? ya know, eat a lot of cake and slow down, mow the lawn...yeah, screw that, I'm gonna take some night courses".... Life in constant motion is what excites me, seeing one great moment after another with no bad parts in between. Like you are being tossed around like a hot potato from moment of bliss to moment of bliss on another planet. Everything I need is right here with me. Being on the moon is a lonely place. I don't need to fly. |

| An English Bookstore (and other foreign languages) in the middle of Mexico City. Lots of "self help" and spiritual books, fantasy, thrillers etc. Also some second hand section where people can do the "give 2, get 1" thing... Ideally with also some space in the back or upstairs for a book club meeting, maybe even a toast masters meeting, or other types of interesting meetings. Maybe eventually even inviting authors to come and give talks about their books etc. Oh well... always nice to dream. |

So right now I'm working on other stuff to get the money for this one. I'd also prefer to have enough money to retain a lawyer who can explain and investigate for me all the rules regarding importing books and book prices and stuff like that. | |

I actually never feel like I fail. I sure learn a lot though. The beauty of failing is that it means you tried. If you stand to lose something, fail with a safety net. For instance, I'm learning to make shadow boxes. Boy am I ever... ahem... learning a lot. Since I'm using wood that is laughably cheap though, I'm learning with a safety net. Other than financially, I'm not sure how I could possibly, truly fail. -Tim |
