Default Are You Feeding Your Mind?

Did you now that your future wellbeing will be determined by your willingness to always get better at what you do. This can be called …continuous improvement or continuous education.

There are two types of education in life: one given to us by others (school for example) and the other, much more important, being the one we give ourselves. Brian Tracy once said: “Formal education can allow us to earn a living, but the education we give ourselves can allow us to earn a fortune!”.

A person who sleeps 8 hours per night and works 40 hours per week has 72 hours per week left for spare time. This person’s future greatly depends on what he/she does during those 72 hours. It is easy to predict the future success of someone simply by looking at how he/she spends spare time.

Many people plan money each month for food, housing, telephone, electricity, outings, etc. … but, they forget to set aside an amount for their personal development. Their refrigerator is full of food for their stomach, but their library does not contain any food for their mind. They have money to spend in restaurants, trips, chic clothing, fancy cars, cigarettes, alcohol, but not to invest in their personal improvement. As a general rule, recognize that when you spend money above your shoulders, it’s an investment, and below the shoulders, it’s an expense.

To learn to live a better life, to be happier, to have a higher self-esteem has no price. Self-improvement and investing time and money for oneself is the best investment someone can make. Benjamin Franklin said: “Take the money in your wallet and invest it in your mind. In return, your mind will fill your wallet.”

One of the best ways to “Feed Your Mind” is to transform your car into a University on wheels. Let me ask you a question …How much time do you spend in your car each day to go to work and come back?

Did you know that people do, on average 20 to 25,000 kilometers per year in their car? They spend 700 to 1000 hours per year behind the wheel, with their hands busy while their mind it not. This is about 18 to 25, 40-hour weeks!

Many people claim they do not have enough time for their continuous education. Well guess what … if you would listen to training CD’s in your car for 15 minutes in the morning to go to work and 15 minutes in the evening coming back home, it would be almost equal to 2 semesters in University per year! And without sacrificing any of your other spare time!

What are you waiting for?

René
