Default What Are Your Favourite Ways To Set Goals? or I need help with setting goals please

Hi all!

Hope you're having a lovely morning/afternoon/evening/night. I have little problem which I hope you might be able to help me with. Actually, it's a fairly big problem. You see, I seem to have tremendous trouble in setting goals. I just don't seem to be able to set goals that motivate me much. It also doesn't help that I've been in such an apathetic state for so long that I'm not too sure what I want, so asking the question, "What do you want to do?" is a really crap question for me.

I've tried the bucket list, "What would you do if you couldn't fail?", "What would you do if you were 10 times smarter than everyone else?" but so far they've yielded rubbish.

So what are your ways of setting motivating, delicious goals?

Have a nice day,
Sai

First, I elicit my values in the area of life in which I want to set an outcome. What's important to me about (career/relationship/family/health & fitness/etc)?

Then I take a look at how much toward- and how much away-from motivation is in each value -- and sometimes it's not totally obvious. If it looks like I have lots of away-from and not much towards-, I may reevaluate and reorganize my values.

When I've got a list of values that totally inspires me and lights me up, I distinguish an outcome that expresses ALL of those values. I make sure that the outcome has all the attributes of a SMART goal, and then I make an image of that outcome, turning up the brightness, color, sharpness, volume, intensity, etc. to get that image VERY vivid, very real, and very desirable.

Then I use TIME Techniques to install it into my future so that all I have to do is walk into that future, easily and effortlessly.

Hi Sai,

I would say, that maybe, if you are not able to set goals in your life it is maybe because you don't have the most important... hapiness...

Are you happy? This morning, i wrote an article on my blog about setting goals, and i reminds me how it can be tricky to set a goal. A goal can be good for you as it can be bad. I believe that you have to be happy first and then you are able to set and reach goals.

For me, what is tricky in setting goals is that you report your hapinness in the moment you will reach your goal. But this means that you miss your life because the only moment where you can be happy is NOW and not tomorrow or in a month or a year. Imagine you set a goal and you think you be happy when you will reach it, let's say your goal is to have a promotion in your job. When you will reachn this goal i can assure you that will report your hapiness again in another goal, maybe have more money...

The life purpose is to be happy isn't it? So for me, you have to face the present, see what you like and what you don't like, see if you can change the things you don't like, and if not, accept it. Because what causes pain isn't the reality, but it is the fight sith the reality you doesn't accept.

So first, be happy, and then you'll find things to improve in your life, but hapiness is now, not in the future or the past...

Hi Sai
find your unmet needs, the needs that you are really eager to fullfill
as soon as you find them set goals that can allow you fullfill them

a simple example, some people really want to be rich, in such a case they can set many goals that can help them reach this ultimate goal of becoming rich
