Default Unexpected insight

The other day I was talking with my wife. I was complaining I didn't have enough time for blogging, reading, personal development etc. We are newlyweds and want to soon make a family. We have a new apartment and I have a new job. I am a very demanding person however and it was dragging me down that everything wasn't working incredibly smoothly. That's when she said "grow up, you sound like a spoiled brat".

Most of the things that go well or I enjoy in life are an indirect result of my primary goal. I have about 4 primary goals that I focus on everyday. But many of my steps up have been results of people I know, places I've lived, activities I've participated in, or things like that. Not exactly school or my job. I feel inspiration for my everyday life from my job and inspiration for my job from what I do in my everyday life. It is all connected.

You don't need to read 1 new personal development book everyday like I thought. You need to vary your interests and activities. You need to make people feel special, make family feel wanted, make coworkers feel productive and useful.

When she said grow up, I realized that personal development can lead to fantasy worlds. Worlds that don't have much to do with reality. I think that's why I chose her, sometimes I'm too high up in the air, and instead of saying she drags me down, she really gives me solid ground to walk on so that I can reach for what I want. I love her.

Like anything else, PD can also turn into a type of procrastination, if you don't actually do someting and apply what you read. It's easy to think there's always something *better* out there, so your ''happiness'' is always waiting for you somewhere in the future.

When I go into something without strict expectations attached to it and with an open mind, things turn out great. I guess it's because you don't have any resistance to it or fear that it might not happen, since you don't really know what it is and you go with the flow.
For me, it's been important to loosen my grip on the need to control the outcome and allow things to work out and unfold in ways I may not have predicted.

Right, give to others what you want for yourself and treat them the way you want to be treated.
