Hello all! I am observing this since a couple of weeks. While I am about to wake up, say in between the alarm and when I have decided to just force myself out my bed, I am filled with a lot of apprehensions and negative thoughts on my life and plan in general. This feeling also continues while I am in the bathroom getting ready for the day. But then gradually the feeling vanishes and I am again filled with enthusiasm and excitement about life. Is there a scientific reason for this? How to overcome it? Like for example, I am thinking of a new idea to become an entrepreneur. But everyday while I am waking up, tons of self-doubt seeps in and puts all my plans and ideas in deep self doubt. Its not a good feeling to start my day. Any advise/suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated! Thanks! |

I've experienced it at various points in my life and it usually means that something is making me really miserable but that during the day I'm denying it. Find what really makes you want to stay in bed. Where does that apprehension come from? Dig at it. "I really don't want to... get out in the cold / face my nagging partner / deal with my boss' crap / have to look at that cluttery appartment of mine / drive to work today". Once you've identified a possible cause, take a step to fix it. It might be relatively minor - for example I noticed the pattern in most of my morning despairs happened in the winter. I bought a anti-SAD lamp (step 1) and later moved to a sunnier place (step 2, definitive fix). Some other moments of anxiety had to do with facing people who I had done wrong by not fulfilling my responsibilities as well as I could have. I worked on becoming more effective and on not projecting my own insecurities on others. See what works for you. |

| I don't know about the scientific reason but on the meditative side, I found that if one goes through the mind just before resting, and sort the contents of the mind into what can be achieved, what should be postponed and what cannot be achieved, and then trash what cannot be achieved, do what can be done and set aside what is to be postponed, one does not arise the next day with a sapped depressed mental condition. |

Before you go to bed, create a list of tasks you'd want to get done the next day and read it as soon as you wake up the next morning. You could be feeling that way because your mind just doesn't see the point of getting up in its sleepy state. It takes a while to start processing information and decide what to do. But if you've got a list of tasks already set out for you to complete, it helps kick start your mind into action. |
