Default Personal Website/Blog

Hi,

Does anyone here have a personal website blog where they aim to share information with others (self-help, health advice, or other)? For some time I've been gathering materials and notes, and I've been thinking of doing this. So I have a few questions:

For those of you who have done so:

What do you feel you got out of it?
If you were to do it all over again, would you? Has it been worth it?
What made you choose the Web over another means of communication, such as writing a book?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Maintaining an ongoing blog is rewarding because you are essentially building a community with your readers. Feedback is more instantaneous as well. The downside is that your readers may start to ebb if you can't keep it updated with quality content.

I try not to pressure myself to churn out posts though just for the sake of keeping a blog updated. I enjoy sharing things which I feel are relevant to what I'm going through. The response in general has been very positive thus far.

My blog is for singers. It deals with all aspects of a singer's life including performing, technique, teaching, competing and so on.

I will answer your questions in reverse order.

I chose to start a blog because it is easy, flexible and fun. I can write when I want, where I want and reaching people happens easily and directly. It has been beyond worth it. There is something inside all of us which needs to be expressed, blogging is one of my ways to do this.

I have made friends in my field all over the world. Some call this networking. I have been able to organize my thoughts, test my knowledge, and help people which is enormously satisfying. I look forward to my blogging time and it fulfills a need to give in me.
